Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Amazing car... - 2006 Honda Civic

This is one great car. I previously drove a 2000 Accord V6 coupe. My Civic Hybrid is quiter, more solid and refined than my V6 Accord. It looks great, handles well and is fun in its own geeky way. Driving this car is relaxing in that you focus on getting the best MPG possible, rather than racing from point a to b. Of course, it takes a bit longer to get to work driving 70 rather than 85 (which is how I drove the Accord), but that will change when the carpool stickers arrive (California thing).

This car is great. It is my first car and I love it. It looks great and it is actually kinda strong for a 1.8 L engine. Its better than a lot of 2.0 L engines because it preforms better on gas but has as much power as a 2.0 L engine. Its fun to drive and the speedometer is soooooo unique. Everyone that rides in my car loves it. This car is perfect for anyone who doesnt want to spend so much money on gas and perfect for someone that wants a car thats worth your money, not to mention how long this car will last. I JUST LOVE IT.

I drive carpool on the highway everyday (a little tight inside, but oh well) and not so much city anymore. Ive only gotten below 30 mpg in the city once, and have gotten over 38 on the highway. My usually get around 34-35 combined. I opted not to get a hybrid as it was not going to be as cost efficient for me as the regular Civic. Its not the best accelerator when pulling onto the highway, but then again I traded in my Odyssey (which I loved but could no longer afford to feed) and I smile every time I stop at the gas station.

It isnt Prius level fuel efficient, but close enough, with less compromise in style and comfort.

  • Great Buy! - 2012 Honda Civic

I was in the market for an econo car and Edmunds site was a big help. Narrowed down my selection to Jetta TDI, Elantra and Civic. At the end of the day, went with Civic and cant be more pleased. The car is VERY comfortable even for 6ft+ individuals. I cant get over how well this thing rides. Ive owned a TL & MDX in the past and this car is a pleasure to drive! Fuel economy is also great. Im averaging 35+mpg to the tank on mixed driving. I do spend a lot of time in traffic during my daily commute. If youre lookn for a great econo car that drives well, is reliable you will not go wrong with selecting this car. Its not flashy but gets the job done.

Great car but not much difference in price between Civic and Accord.

I wanted a Hybrid from the start, especially with gas prices going close to $2.00 per gallon. The choices for my family of 4 were either the Toyota Prius or Honda Civic Hybrid. From a Safety standpoint the Honda is better than the Toyota. Although the Prius is a bit cheaper, that price goes up rapidly when you add the CD Player and Sideimpact Airbags( both of these features are Standard on the Civic Hybrid). Plus the need for a automatic transmission, my wife hates to shift ;). We got a great price of $100.00 over invoice with a $100.00 coupon to buy floor mats and such. Plus how can you beat 1.9% financing?

  • Very dissapointed - 2008 Honda Civic

I trade my excellent and reliable Honda Civic VP 2005 for a Honda 2008. It was the worst decision I made on my life. I am regretting it since day one. Cheap plastic, noisy (I feel every street bump). I cannot get used to the over designed dashboard. Overall very cheap built and overpriced. I cannot afford to trade it but I will do it as soon as I can. Will never buy Honda again. Honda is sleeping on its laurels.

Great fuel economy, only been thru one tank of gas, and average was 33.5 MPG. Handles well. Wish the LX had better wheels, but not at the $2000 price for the EX. My kids think it is the greatest, they like riding in it much more than in the minivan (me too). The interior is great, I love the fact that the CD player will also play MP3s and WMAs. Takes some getting used to the speedometer display, it can be too bright at times, and if adjusted not bright enough at other times, but it is very easy to adjust. I am tall, and on the first day I owned it, I hit my knee on the emergency brake handle while getting in, it took part of the paint off of the button, but no big deal.

  • Mediocre mpg and incurable airbag warning - 2015 Honda Civic
    By -

Car is uncomfortable to get in and out of with a floating feeling with steering...loud with acceleration. Warning lights intermittently come on for the airbags.....the dealership says it is not able to be fixed and is normal....backup camera is a joke...wish I would have purchased another brand....first and last Honda...not impressed
