Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Excellent Car! - 1998 Honda Civic

I bought this car with 69,000 miles in 2001. I have driven to Chicago, Cleveland, and other places. It never fails to start. I now have 111,000 miles and it runs like it has 2 miles on it. The only thing ihave had to repair was the A/C system, other than that it is the perfect car. WAY BETTER THAN ANY CAVALIER OR SUNFIRE AND DEFINITELY BETTER THAN A NEON!!

I purchased this car based on Hondas reputation for quality and reliability. The Civic runs well and performs as expected. However the car has more rattles, squeaks and noises than I ever imagined. The integrity is very poor. The dash rattles match the domestics and is far worse than past Hondas I have known. The ride is rough and the driver/passenger feel every road imperfection. Road noise is considerable for this car. Aside from the noise and rattles, the quality seems to be good. I have 40,000 miles on it now and plan to trade it because I am dissatisfied with the overall build quality. I believe I will look at alternative vehicles.

  • So Far, So Good - 2012 Honda Civic

We have been very happy with this car so far in almost all regards. The older entertainment system is a little finicky with my iPhone, but all in all, thats a pretty small complaint. We have put a lot of miles on it since we got it and its been outstanding. So happy we got it.

Before buying this car i test drove V6 mustangs, 350z & some other sport coupes. keeping in mind the reliability, fuel economy, resale value & price i am glad i made the right decision. Fun to drive specially when the Vtec kicks in car sounds like a Ferrari :).

  • Not suited for long term rides. - 2013 Honda Civic

I like the car over all, 74k miles and counting, no leaks or glitches so far. I drive it hard since I work with two ride-sharing companies. The biggest drawback is the space in the backseat and the lack of setting to get the driver seat just right. I do love the fuel economy, the eco button only means you have to break harder but I dont see significant savings on gas, which is a lot to say for a car that fills up with $22.00 bucks or less and drives for up to 500 miles HWY. (I done it). The only thing I would change on the car is the legroom in the back a couple of extra inches wouldve been great and again the driver seat. I spend about 10 hours a day in it and believe me, is not a ride in the park.

great little car. Get 45 to over 52 miles per gallon. Most of my driving is around town but it does handle well on the highway.

  • Fun and Practical for this 23 year old - 2008 Honda Civic

So far I have close to 2000 miles on the odo. Its a fun car to drive given its size. I have been averaging 26-28 mpg with city driving. I really like the fact that the civics now come with a 5 speed tranny. I use to have an 01 civic coupe and my new one is improved all around. The wipers are neat too. They have air foils on them so you get a better swipe of the wipers as you are moving because it presses against the glass. My next vehicle well be a civic si or maybe the diesel if they bring it over from Europe.

Great, fun car to drive. Advertised mileage is greater than the actual. Overall, out Hybrid is getting about 43 mpg average. Navigation system is good except it found a restaurant in the middle of an empty field. Excellent owner manuals which are really needed with all the wiz-bang electronics. The Civic is loaded with almost everything that one would expect to find on a luxury car.

I have only owned this car for about 3 weeks now and coming from owning a S2000 and a MR2 turbo I wasnt expecting to love this car the way I do. It is so much fun to drive that I take the long way everywhere I go now. My friends all love it; coworkers keep asking whos acura that is in the lot. I get compliments and thumbs up everywhere I go. Its just an awesome car. i never expected to like it this much. I was torn between this and a used IS300. Im really glad I went with the SI. Expecially since Im getting 28mpg instead of 18. Oh and when the i-vtec kicks in bout 6000rpm! Screamin.

  • Get your Moneys Worth. - 2007 Honda Civic

Ive owned my Civic for just a bit over 1 yr. now. Not ecstatic, but Im satisfied with what it has to offer. GREAT on fuel! Not to small or too big of a sedan and the price is worth it for what youll be getting in the long run. Look how great 94 civics are running now days, right? They look almost as close to nice as Acuras TSX- for what your paying for a Honda Civic, it will be well worth it in the future. Im still enjoying.
