Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Good Commuter - 2004 Honda Civic
    By -

I have owned 3 Hondas previous to this purchase. I see the build quality dropping. There are more rattles in this one then the others. With 17,000 miles on the vehicle I have not had any service issues. I commute 100 miles (minimum) daily with steep grades of 6% to 8% for 15 to 20 mile distances. My highway to city driving ratio is 80%/20% respectively. With these two factors, I am getting 40 to 44 MPG (consistently). My worst tank full was 37 MPG. However, I am using fuel saving measure when I commute. This car is more comfortable than I ever thought it would be. However, there is to much road noise. I recommend the Civic as a commuter.

  • This is a GREAT car - 2007 Honda Civic

I waited almost 4 months for my hybrid, and it was worth the wait. Ive had it for 2 months with almost 3000 miles and no complaints. I really like the gauge layout, Im not bothered by the emergency brake handle, and Ive had several cars that I cant quite see the front of from inside. I was a little concerned about poor acceleration until I passed someone my first day with the car with no problem. I wasnt sure how it would do in the Minnesota cold...no problem. This car teaches you to drive efficiently. Mileage was around 50mpg when it was warmer, but dropped in the cold. Im not sure if global warming is real, but in case it is, Im trying to do my part to pollute as little as possible

  • HONDA CIVIC HAS ALL NEW LOOK AND STYLE - 2016 Honda Civic
    By -

I have had my 2016 Civic since late April of 2016 and leased it brand new! Has been my best Honda so far. Love the styling and design of the Civic. The Honda sensing package is well worth the added cost. It practaclly drives it self. Handles beautifully and the entertainment system sounds so great! I highly recommend taking a test drive you will be amazed that its a Civic.

  • rattle & clunk - 2000 Honda Civic

Been shopping for a replacement, since I bought it. 3 months after purchase, driver side window starts making noise. Replaced. 2 months later, samething. Repaired. 4 months later the passenger window joined in the fun, you get the picture. I now drive with the windows all the way up or all the way down so I dont feel my blood boil. Clunks whenever the windows are only part way open. Unreliable acceleration, seems to have a mind of its own. Sometimes it will take off like a bullet most often it struggles to shift into gear and take off. Our 96 nissan sentra (major accident and 180,000 miles) has more pick up then civic ever had.

  • Thank you Honda (SI Sedan) - 2009 Honda Civic
    By -

Our little SI sedan has proven to be a lot of car for the money. We kept our previous Honda ten years with no major repair issues. This Civic appears to be every bit as good. The little car could not be more fun to drive and the sales price was reasonable and not inflated.

  • Some pluses, some minuses - 2007 Honda Civic
    By -

I think its the best looking car out there. The ride is smooth and comfortable. It has enough get up and go for my needs. Im disappointed that Ive never gotten anywhere near 40 MPG. The door panels are prone to scratches. The drivers side window failed after about six months. Otherwise, no mechanical problems. Incredibly, the owners manual has no information on the location of or procedure to change the "air cleaner element" (filter).

  • Dont Judge It Until Youve Owned One - 2015 Honda Civic
    By -

I have read many "professional" reviews of the 2015 Si and I am just at a loss. I think that before someone either publishes a review or posts a YouTube video, they ought to spend more than 15 minutes driving the car. I have owned my Si coupe for just over a year, and I can tell you honestly that I am more than happy with my purchase. To those who whine about the lack of power, I say that you need to learn how and when to shift gears. My car has spun its wheels both off the line and going into second gear. I have beaten cars with larger engines in fair races, both in straight lines and on road courses. While the handling may not be as tight as that of previous Sis, I have yet to lose control of mine, even when powering through turns at speeds that many other cars could not handle. Yes, some tightness has been lost to ride comfort, and there is no actual feedback in the steering wheel. But to an old school guy like me who grew up on torsion bar MOPARs of the 70s, this is of no consequence. It seems that gone are the days of drivers learning how to handle their machines. Todays drivers are spoiled brats who expect their cars to do everything for them. Fuel economy can be achieved through proper driving techniques, proper maintenance and burning good quality gasoline. Even before replacing my air filter with a K&N high flow filter, my Si was getting 35mpg on the highway with the cruise control set above 70mph. This of course was done with the windows closed and the air conditioning not set to max. Aerodynamic drag wastes more fuel than does minimal use of the a/c. For comfort, I give the 15 Civic Si an A+++. I am 62", 240lbs and have driven my Si between NY and FL non-stop, with the exception of refueling. Upon my arrival, I had NO body aches, NO muscle cramps and NO abnormal fatigue. I will, however, state for the record that the back seat in my coupe is there for decorative purposes only. If you intend to carry passengers, I recommend going for the sedan. Overall, I am glad I bought it and if I could go back in time and ponder my options, I would buy an Si again.
