Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Best car Ive owned - 2006 Honda Civic

After 8 months and 11,000 miles, Im still thrilled with my purchase. Its very simple to drive, all controls are handy and well laid out, it has a nice ride, it has the power when you need it, and it brakes well. Doesnt hurt that it looks good. My only complaint is Im personally getting lower MPG than advertised (only getting around 26 normally, best was 31 on pure highway). Im also wondering about the tank size. Ive driven it down to the last dot of the gas gauge, had the extra light on announcing low gas for many miles, but when I filled up it only took 10.4 gallons to fill. Wheres the other 2.8 gallons this car claims to have (13.2 gallon tank listed)?

  • I couldnt love this car more! - 2007 Honda Civic

I recently put my 96 Civic Coupe DX to sleep. I wasnt going to buy another Civic thinking Ill just "move up" to something better like an Accord or Camry. But as soon as I test drove the 07 out of curiosity, I was hooked. As far as Im concerned, there is no better car for the money. This car handles great, is quite speedy, and very comfortable. he seats feel wonderful and soft. The telescopic steering wheel is a nice feature. It has maintenance minder too so taking care of this car is a no- brainer. I dont have enough room to rave about this car.

  • Civic LX Coupe - Not perfect - 2002 Honda Civic
    By -

Overall, the Civic Coupe LX is a solid buy. I am dissapointed, however, with the build quality. While my Civic has been solid since I purchased it in May 02, noises, particularly a loud clicking, have developed. I have been to the dealer three times, and they have not been able to fix the problem. The Civic should definitely be on your shopping list, just dont automatically rely on the Honda brand.

  • Not Your Ordinary Economy Car - 2006 Honda Civic

At 17, this is the best birthday present one could ever ask for. I got to pick this car out and configure it with everything I wanted - and I couldnt think of a single thing to complain about. The car is fitted with aftermarket leather seats and it looks beautiful - the nav is fantastic. It doesnt get the promised mileage, but no car does... and I have a heavy foot. I average about 25 total but I have to idle in city rush hour traffic every morning... the highway mileage is excellent. Great car overall, stylish, fun to drive, SAFE SAFE SAFE! My friends think its the coolest thing ever, and so do I. Just remind me next time that black is not worth the time to keep it clean!

  • Awesome car!!! - 2004 Honda Civic
    By -

I thought that the Civic didnt have enough room for 6ft tall people, but boy was I surprised. It is roomy and the interior is beautiful. I love the lighted gauges. The LX comes with nice standard features. The engine is very good but is a little noisy.

  • Sporty car for a great price! - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

I bought the car in January after putting 255K miles on a previous civic. The styling on this car is great, as is the stereo system, but what really makes this car stand out - and is likely to generate some extra income for the state police - is its insatiable desire to go fast. It nearly begs to be driven faster through a tight turn, and as you hit 6500 rpm it will nearly give you whiplash and youll have to already be thinking about shifting into the next higher gear to make it before it redlines at 8000 rpm. Its a great car!

  • Wish I had two of em - 2005 Honda Civic
    By -

Ive been driving this Civic Hybrid for a week and already my fuel bills are plummeting. It is a great car and rides much better than my previous car - a 2003 Prius. Its smooth and quiet at both street and freeway speeds. My MPG is slowly rising (they told me it would take approximately 600 miles to get to optimum mileage levels) and now stands at 41 mpg average - up from 33 when first delivered. Friends and neighbors cant believe its a hybrid -- as one said "It looks like a regular car and not an egg". Honda has nailed this technology. I wish I could afford two of them - Id trade my Lexus in an instant for another Civic Hybrid!

  • wow!!! impressive!!! got our $$ worth! - 2012 Honda Civic
    By -

Was looking to downsize with an economical vehicle and had looked at many other economy cars (mazda 3, hyundai sonata, toyota corolla) before looking at Hondas Civic. Have been impressed with the engines performance...Living in Co. thought wed have to buy a standard to provide more power to drive over the mountain hwy, yet, was impressed during the test drive..that we bought an automatic and have not been disappointed. Enjoying the interior layout! Feel were getting our $$s worth and if we decide to trade in later, we know that well get a better trade in value compared to other vehicles.

  • Nice car. - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

Havent driven very many miles yet, so this review is preliminary. The engine and transmission are performing quite well. Decent mileage and plenty of power for me. The civic is a rather noisy and hard riding car. Although the stiffness is great if you like to take corners at high speed and dart around in traffic, lowering the spring rates would do a lot to soften the ride for people who want a comfortable ride. The seats are pretty stiff, but Ill wait until I take a long trip before I pass judgement. The interior has lots of room and I like the speedo and the armrest with cupholders in the back. The interior materials seem like they are high quality.

  • I love my Civic - 2006 Honda Civic

I was really impressed with how much the Civic has changed. Its surprisingly roomy on the inside and in the trunk, though I wish there was just a little more leg room in the back seat. This car has impressive get- up-and-go for a 4 cylinder engine.
