Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

Good. No complaints. But less fun.

Have had car for 3 weeks. At 862 in town miles, overall mpg is 38.2; should improve with break-in. MSRP $27,520, paid $24,580 (below invoice). Excellent room in all seats for 62", 190 lb. body. Very comfortable seats. Quiet and comfortable ride. Exceeds expectations. At price paid, its an outstanding value.

What else can I say? A typical just get in and drive it Honda. Never a worry or fear...just drive it, change fluids and filters (I just do that myself) and nothing else. Do they ever break down? It may not have the fastest acceleration but mime age has been averaging over 38 mpg for the first 25k. Clearn lines, easy to operate, and love the console display screen.

Purchased new 2 years ago. Previously had a 2001 Civic, and the gas mileage is slightly less, but this is a much better car with more power. Average 30 MPG town, about 36-40 hwy. Only problem was driver window came off track, but dealer repaired at no charge. Have 41K miles on it, very reliable, excellent in traffic. Highly recommended, if you are looking for a low cost, economy car with a lot of safety features.

I bought this car brand new and overall have been happy with it. I put 25k miles a year, and am now at 84k. I have had two problems so far. The ignitor went out luckily while still under warranty. The ac compressor went out this summer. I have used semisynthetic oil since new and it runs as strong as the day i drove off the lot.

  • Ill never own anything but a HONDA - 2003 Honda Civic

I have owned 2 Civics and now I own a Accord. Hondas are very reliable and fun to drive. I have NEVER had to use the "warrenty", which is really nice.

  • Just ordinary - 2005 Honda Civic

Reliable transportation but little else. Starts, goes, stops just fine, and it looks okay. Absolutely terrible ride quality (harsh, bouncy, crude & unrefined), sun visor fabric is rotting away, door fabric coming unglued, hole in drivers floor mat at 5,000 miles, thin paint on thin sheet metal, crappy speakers already failing, no lock on glove compartment, no tint strip at top of windshield, no passenger door power lock button, loses power steering fluid every 6 months, too few features for the money overall. Because of this Civic, Honda has lost me as a customer for good.

  • Great Economy Car - 2001 Honda Civic

I got my Civic brand new my senior year in college and it has been a great car for the low budget. It is reliable and gets great gas mileage. The comfort of the car leaves a lot to be desired. Especially uncomfortable on long trips (at least in the front-I dont know about the back). But, a good car all- around.

I recently got rid of a 2004 Mazda 3 sport and I like the Civic much better. I am very impressed with the smooth ride for a car less than $20,000. The cabin is quiet radio is create, manual shifter is very smooth. I drive mostly highway and have been getting around 34 mpg.

This has been an amazing experience. I owned a 91 Civic three door and have driven a few different cars between. This car gives you more than you moneys worth. I decided on the DX-G but the SI was hard to leave in the showroom. Its no wonder this car was best in its class last year. Driving this car is the most fun Ive had behind a wheel in a long time.
