Overview & Reviews
Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.
The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

Great Car - 2006 Honda Civic
By Travis - July 11 - 11:16 pmThis car is overall great. I love to drive it. I average about 32 mpg and do 95% highway driving. This is very confusing to me. One thing that I dont like it everytime you take off your seatbelt it smacks against the door and leaves a tiny little mark. These marks add up and now I have tons of them. I work at Honda in the service department so I have seen these marks on all the Civics that come in.

Cool Car - 2006 Honda Civic
By kurt - July 11 - 10:03 pmI bought this car off a private party mainly because of the carpool lane stickers it had. We live in CA, and these are like gold; the state hasnt issued anymore for this year so if you buy new you arent guaranteed a sticker. Anyway, we also got the car for its fuel efficiency; we average about 38-40 mpg in combined city/highway driving. The Prius gets better mileage due to its increased reliance on the electric motor, but I think the Honda looks better and is actually quite fun to drive. We added an Eclipse navigation w/upgraded stereo receiver that rocks. We also tinted the windows to keep it cooler in the summer (and it looks cool too!) For a small car, has a decent amount of room.

The right car for the long run - 2006 Honda Civic
By craig - July 9 - 11:26 amI decided to do something about the high price of gas, I bought a 2006 civic based on reviews, gas mileage estimates, safety and just good old honda quality. So far it has been an excellent decision. Nice style and very fun to drive. I drive over 90 miles per day to work and back so the civic just made good economic sense. Though the civic is pricey, I feel it is money well spent for quality. Give me a honda any day.

Make an EX EXtra Special - 2005 Honda Civic
By Kenneth Lichtig - July 8 - 3:46 amMy wife and I will be purchasing a 2005 Civic Hybrid 3Q05. This is the most refined Civic in the history of the Civics. It is not a perfect car by no means. The SI 160 hp should be offered as an option because 127 hp is too anemic climbing the passes in Los Angeles.Acura sells a version in Canada called the EL. The EL has accord style taillights. You can get leather interior, fog lamps, heated seats and wood trimed as standard equipment on the Touring Model. The EX buyer should also have these choices of factory leather, fog lamps or wood trimed dash.We have a 02 Civic EX which will be my wifes car when we purchase the hybrid model later this year.

Frustratingly close to great - 2014 Honda Civic
By J.B. Morris - July 7 - 12:19 amWife purchased a used 2014 Civic with 40k miles from a rental company over a year ago. The ride comfort is almost as smooth as a mid size car. It is by far the best CVT car Ive driven and still has good power and passing ability while getting insane fuel economy on the highway. Weve averaged 40 mpg on vacations and it gets nearly 50 mph in ideal highway driving conditions (it has real time mpg data). No reliability issues so far, which isnt surprising for a Honda. Two main complaints are the utter lack of cup holders - only two for the entire vehicle - and its the hardest car Ive had to get in and out of, a combination of its low sitting position plus a slanting roof line. Also not much rear passenger room and no rear cup holders. Its a nice car for a single commuter but not if you often have more than 2 passengers.

Everything I expected - 2008 Honda Civic
By Adam - July 5 - 8:26 pmI got this car after 5 years in a Dodge Caravan, so I had to get used to driving so low to the ground. I liked the look of the 2 door, but I didnt like the blind spots, so I went with a 4 door. Overall, I am very satisfied with the car. I get between 33-38 MPG, and after one trip across the state and back, I got almost 40 MPG. I got into the Honda for the reliability factor, but I love the look, especially the color (dark blue) and the digital speedometer. It was a little uncomfortable during the long trip; I had to shift around to stay comfortable, but some of that may have been because I was still adjusting from my Caravan (where my legs went down, instead of out.)

The best ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - 2006 Honda Civic
By dagnydeveaux - July 5 - 4:03 amWere very, very impressed. With a little self control the mileage really is as Honda advertised it. The way it handles is extremely impressive for a smaller car; we feel as safe in it as we do in our old work horse - the Volvo Cross Country!

A Honda Believer for Life! :O) - 2008 Honda Civic
By Dottie - July 5 - 1:40 amI have a 1997 Honda Del Sol and have owned 2 Preludes and I have to say that Honda delivers what others do not and that is a quality car with great handling and performance (more than the hp might suggest) for the money. I was hesitant to consider the new Civic after having had an older model as a loaner when getting my Del Sol worked on and I found it to be flimsy and loud but this new generation Civic is a charmer! I went to the dealership to try out the new Honda Fit as a supplemental car to my Del Sol which has over 100K miles on it and test drove the Civic, too, and fell in love. So far, Ive only had it a week but find the ride quality and performance to be great!
