Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

Let me start by saying this; all my life Ive driven RWD performance cars (multiple 350z 05, and 07, s2000, eclipse v6 , 08 corvette) - this was my first FWD sporty car and IT DID NOT dissapoint comparing to all of those cars, which tells you a lot. The biggest issue you will see people mention is the bad interior quality, yes if you are coming from a BMW or a Lexus it will feel bad, but coming from the cars I listed above it felt like a definite upgrade. Key Pros: MPG, Torque (yes its not a v8, but a 4cyl pumping out 170 ft lbs in a lightweight sedan (2900lbs) is superb, transmission, handling. For the price & honda reliability/resale value it CAN NOT be beat, sure there are faster cars for the same price - but you wont get the reliability or the resale (gti I am looking at you) - Should you buy it ? YES. I cant wait for the 2017 civic si.

Great car sofar! I orginally got this car for my wife and she is loving it as well. She drives it more than I do, but when I get a chance I am all over it. Overall, I like the way it handles. At first, it didnt seem like it was utilizing the battery power mentioned at the dealer, but as time goes on, on refueling the mileage appears to be getting better each time. I love this car!!!

Great car to buy new and own for fifteen years. If you dont mind a two door car--in this class of cars, the Honda cannot be beat. It hardly depreciates in value--it rides much more smoothly than ever before. The Value Package is perfect--no need to spend thousands more for unecessary automatic this and that. In silver with a dark grey interior--the car looks as cool as anything else on the road (save a BMW). The new body type is terrific-- with great rear lights. Sporty and fun to drive with built in CD player. Fantastic gas mileage!!! Trunk is significantly bigger than before.

I love this car. This is my second new model civic; my first was a 02 LX. That car saved my life. The accident crumpled and ruined the car, but at least I’m still alive, if it didn’t crumple I’d probably have died. Took the money I got from their insurance and bought the EX. If you’re deciding between the two models GET THE EX. I have an automatic, but there is still a nice difference in the engine, and the ABS is nice too (especially for insurance). The only thing I don’t like is how easily the panels dent! But I love the reliability. Car looks great with the sunroof visor and spoiler, but visor limits sunroof’s opening a lot.

I was all ready to test drive a Toyota Prius last December when an article at Edmunds.com alertted me to Hondas plan to make a hybrid Civic. With Civic reliability and safety and the fuel mileage and low emissions of the hybrid engine, this is THE PERFECT CAR (OK, all electric would be even better, but I regularly travel farther than current electrics will run on a single charge.)

  • Great mileage, poor performance - 2008 Honda Civic

This is a great all-around commuter car. I have gotten 36.4 MPG calculated by my own consumption figures (not the built-in computer) for the first 11,000 miles. I drive 50% freeway and 50% very slow Los Angeles stop-n-go. The car is very comfortable for a small car and the ergonomics and controls are the best I have experienced. Fuel economy suffers significantly with a/c, slow traffic, and hills. Put any two of those together and MPG drops to the teens. This car cannot climb Baxter street in Echo Park, one of LAs steepest streets. It literally stops half way up the hill and will not move further even with full throttle.

I have had this car 6 weeks and have been nothing short of impressed. After the initial break-in period of about 2000 miles and getting used to the feel of it . The power is more than adequet and fuel economy is 43 -44 mostly distance driving . The handeling is most impressive as well as comfort and ease of reading gagues . Give this car a drive and you too will see its value . Looking forward to see whats next .

Bad car. Don’t buy it. Uncomfortable seats, extra loud alarm chimes and a cheap rattling interior made me sell this car after 6,700 miles. No excuse. Honda costs a couple of thousand more than many of its competitors cars. The plastic interior is poorly assembled and its loud. The cabin electrical wires are housed in a noisy corrugated plastic hose that vibrates at highway speeds. The seats are soft and have no support for long drives. Alarm chimes are aggressive and startling. I want to be reminded, not punished. This was my third and last new Honda. No more, thanks.

  • Hybrid? Great! - 2005 Honda Civic

I have owned my hybrid for about a year now and love it. I drive mostly in the 45-55 mph range and average anywhere from 45-52 mpg. My mileage all depends on how much I use the A/C and how much I gas from a stand still. I have taken the car on a long trip and it was comfortable! I would definitely recommend this car.

  • This is no commuter car - 2005 Honda Civic

Bought this car 11 months ago and finally relieved myself of this car yesterday. The ride can be likened to an amusement park go cart. I commuted 100 miles a day at highway speeds. Highway bumps in the road were bone jarring at best. There were days when I would arrive at work with headaches from this car. As far as workmanship, the cloth on the door was coming off, the car was delivered with a blown speaker and there were numerous rattles. I definitely would not recommend this car to highway commuters. I bought a Camry yesterday.
