Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Disappointing, really! - 2007 Honda Civic

I expected much more out of this car based on the many reviews I read; they all seemed to ignore actual performance under real world conditions. Cornering is good but comfort doesnt approach the Elantra and the engine needs heavy-revvin. Reliability has been very disappointing with six trips to the dealer and various repairs.

  • A lot of fun! - 2008 Honda Civic

This car is so much fun to drive. Yes, it may not be as quick as a mazdaspeed 3 or even a VW GTi, but it left the biggest smile on my face. I test drove a Mini Cooper S, Mazdaspeed 3, VW GTi, and the Civic Si. Now i actually didnt even consider the Si in my original list but I thought I would drive it just for fun. It went from not on my list to top of my list in a matter of a hard test drive. It left me with the biggest smile, a lot of space, and the most money left in my wallet (out the door $21,800). Didnt think I would be a fan of the high revving engine but I am now. I highly recommend to take it for a test drive and make sure you open it up to get the full effect.

  • great car so far - 2002 Honda Civic

well, the main reason i bought this car is that my previous vehicle was a jeep wrangler and if you cant guess already.. miles per gallon.. from 12 mpg to 32-39.. i know the vehicles are very different but im just happy to be in this one instead now! the suspension is just right for my taste(semi aggresive driver) as is the conservative styling. i am 64" tell and sit fairly comfortably in my baby. no defects of any kind so far after 3500 miles. the headlights work very well and signals are highly visible.

  • Nice car but eats rear tires. - 2008 Honda Civic
    By -

I like the new Civic. It is comfortable and gets great milage. The only time I drive this car is to go to work, "87 miles each way". I keep close track of mileage and I see 37.4 to 38.25 MPG highway. I only have 2 issues with the car. The left rear tire cups or wears unevenly. Dealer said its not the cars fault. Had to replace it at 15,500 miles. I thought Honda fixed this problem already. The 2006 and 2007 civics including hybrids had rear suspension control arms that built wrong. No recall but they will replace them if you take it back. The only other issue is the LX radio sounds kind of tinny.

  • great car - 2006 Honda Civic

I have had this car for a little over a week. My wife has had a civic hybrid for over 2 1/2 years. Never had a problem so I decided to trade in my crv. I have 1000 miles on it so far. My mileage has been pretty consistent 50 /51 mpg. I dont do a lot of city driving. so I will have to wait and see. It is a very quite smooth runing car.

  • LOVING IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - 2006 Honda Civic

Omg I love this car, but dont tell my husband!! He picked out the car and then brought me down to the dealership and I told him it was too small (we have 3 children), but it turns out it is just right. I love the placement of the speedometer and the comfort of the seats. It definitely gets up and goes!! It turn corners very nicely and I can make a u-turn and not run over the curbs.

  • A great value - 2007 Honda Civic

I bought my Civic because I wanted reliability and good fuel economy. I have owned only small cars; this is the closest to a "big" car I have ever owned. It is far bigger than it looks, but drives like a smaller car. I am averaging 38 mph on the highway and 26 mph in hilly city driving. It also has the best heater/defroster that I have ever seen. My only complaints are a "lumpy" drivers seat and a parking brake that gets hit every time I enter the car. I love the digital dash; it is easy to read and looks "cool". I also wish that it had a trunk release button on the key fob and a sunglass holder. Other than that, it is a fantastic car.

  • Excellent Choice - 2003 Honda Civic

Its been very reliable, and fun to drive. Its a lttle stiff as far as performance goes, but the fuel economy makes up for it big time!
