Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Civics are bullet proof! - 2007 Honda Civic

Without a doubt this is the best car Ive ever owned. I am 62" and have plenty of room, even when Im in the back seat. I got no haggle internet invoice pricing with low 4.9% APR financing. There is a TSB on 07 Civics because of a rear control arm assembly which causes vibrations over 45 MPH. I took it to the dealer - they fixed it promptly at no charge to me & put on a set of new Goodyear tires! Most of my driving is highway driving and I average 33-37 MPG.

  • Paint Quality Standards? - 2006 Honda Civic

Love the interior and exterior styling, love the MPG, but I absolutely hate the fact that the front and rear bumpers do not match the rest of the vehicle. I purchased the EX Sedan in alabaster silver as I like light exterior colors and do not like brown interiors. All of the silver and other light to medium colored Civics on the dealer lots had this issue. Due to needing a vehicle immediately, I went ahead with the purchase. However, every time I look at the vehicle, I am disappointed by how bad the mismatch make the vehicle look. I cant help but question Hondas paint standards. Very disappointing. Honda - get it fixed!!!!

  • Four Months - 2009 Honda Civic

Four months and a bit over 7k miles. MPG is > 38, over the period. Had just recently driven in heavy rain with the OE Bridgestones, and the car rides fine. Most of the driving is open road & highway (90%). Cruise Control maintains a constant speed going uphills. Very happy I returned to a Civic.

  • Disappointed - 2003 Honda Civic

I bought this car while commuting to college and work daily. MPG and cost were the determining factors in purchase. The engine, apart from VERY loud revs, is just fine. It has no problem getting to 80-90 MPH and going steady. My major and only real issue with the car is the interior. For short trips (i.e. test drive) the interior is just fine. Get past 20 minutes in the car and youre ready to kill yourself. The seats are rock hard and HURT the back over time. The cup holder is awkwardly positioned behind the shifter, the radio is too far to reach while sitting back and the car lacks an armrest all together. Claims of high MPG are lies; rarely over 25 MPG on street w/ highway

  • Lovin it so far. - 2016 Honda Civic

I have only had a few weeks, impressed so far... we will see how it handles in the Wisconsin winter! Floor mats seem to wear more than expected. Could be a potential problem.

  • So happy I went with the Civic! - 2006 Honda Civic

After much research, I decided to test drive the Toyota Corolla and the Honda Civic. There was no comparison at all after driving! The Civic was quick and responsive and the drivers seat comfortable. (The Corollas driving position was horrible, I never could get comfortable behind the wheel.) I have had my car three weeks now and I love it! Ive gotten lots of complements on its looks, both interior and exterior and am very happy with the gas mileage I am getting. I will for sure be buying more Hondas in my future!

  • Anticipation of 2017 - 2016 Honda Civic

The 2016 Civic LX manual is very nice but I have decided to wait for the 2017 release as more Civic models are slated to be available with the manual transmission.

  • Fun to drive - 2009 Honda Civic

I traded a 15 year-old Saturn with manual steering and only 37,000 miles so this car is a real treat. I did a lot of new car research and frankly dont understand some of the negatives expressed on Edmunds. The Honda is comfortable, the two-tier digital speedometer is no problem, the emergency brake handle is not a problem. Stereo/CD player sounds great, cant really tell about fuel economy yet, had to warm it up a lot this winter. Variably intermittent windshield wipers would be nice, but not a big issue. Took me 3 months before I had 600 miles to finally get to use the cruise control and its fine. Some want a remote trunk opener on the key? Oh please, I mean opening a trunk is difficult?

  • Great Honda - 2001 Honda Civic

This is the 3rd Honda product I have bought (4 if you count the mower). This Civic is so quiet compared to the previous years. Fuel economy is fantastic, around 35 MPG with my family of 4 and packed for a week vacation. Highly recommend any and all Honda products.

  • Green Machine - 2006 Honda Civic

I bought my 2006 Civic Hybrid in early January and have put about 1000 miles on it to date over about 60% city (30- 40mph) and 40% rural highway (70+mph). I have averaged 44.6 MPG so far, but this would be higher without the highway mileage. After I learned how to use the IMA for optimal mileage, those 35-40 mph arterial streets really bump up the average. The CVT takes a little getting used to, but seems to be a good system. I actually like the dashboard arrangement-- the placement of the gauges makes sense to me. The seats are not the most comfortable, but my last car had cushy leather so its probably just me. Headroom and legroom are no prob for me (Im 63"). So far, fun car.
