Overview & Reviews
Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.
The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

Excellent - 2003 Honda Civic
By LUV2ACCEL8 - December 2 - 4:36 amExcellent car, this was my first Civic much improved design since the 99 model. Roomy interior and trunk. Never had any mechanical or elctrical problems. Gas mileage although listed as 30/38, in reality if you drive in the city do not expect 25-28 even with slow takeoff from red light, although its hard to judge because I always have AC on, which drains gas a lot. Interior materials are pretty good for its price, however would strongly recommend getting the after-market leather package.

Civic Hybrid Delivers - 2007 Honda Civic
By selinz - November 28 - 7:26 amPurchased it to get CA carpool sticker before they disappear. I have been very pleased so far. With 4 tanks of gas, I seem to get around 45MPG overall. The dash calculated values are a bit lower than when I do the miles divided by gallons purchased calculation. If you keep under 70 mph, you seem to get closer to 50 mpg. If you go closer to 85 mpg, it goes down into the low 40s. Stop and start commute traffic gets you in the highto mid 40s. Nothing I do results in the mileage leaving the low 40s. The radio sounds great with my Ipod. Im not thrilled by the tranny but it seems to get the job done in terms of mpg. Acceleration seems fine as long as you dont stomp on it. Overall, Im pleased!!!

Bogus gas ratings - 2006 Honda Civic
By AC - November 27 - 4:36 pmI have some issues with the car. The sub rattles the interior, water comes in the door panels, and the sun visor broke. 30 mpg city and 40 highways? I only avg 27 mpg and I drive normal. I do like the feel of the car and drives very nice but very disappointed with the overall quality of the car and the gas mileage. My ford Taurus with 67,000 miles had no issues.

Very Impressed with this car - 2012 Honda Civic
By Honda_dad - November 26 - 2:07 pmThe only problem we had with this car was going through three batteries from the dealership within the first six months. What we found is the batteries Honda puts in these vehicles are apparently the least they can get by with. After replacing the third one and taking it to an auto parts store to have the alternator checked (which was checked and found to be ok) I bought an Optima Yellow Top battery for it and after three and half years we have had zero battery issues. Ive read reviews on having trouble with the battery in these cars and those people were obviously having the same issues we were. Cheap batteries from the manufacturer. Other than that, we have had zero issues with this car. It belongs to my oldest daughter and it now has 110,000 miles and still runs and rides like the day she bought it. Very much what I expected from Honda. My middle daughter just bought a used 2013 coupe yesterday. Well see how well it lasts.

Best for the price - 2005 Honda Civic
By Max - November 25 - 6:33 amDid a lot of research and wanted something RELIABLE. Everything else was not a big deal. My definition of reliable was: asking mechanics, owners, reading reviews, and just looking at the road; how many old Civics are still on the road compared to the other makes.

Soiid ride with kick - 2002 Honda Civic
By Yukon Black - November 23 - 2:00 amThis vehicle is a joy to drive. The ride is very solid and quiet. There is a great amount of power under the hood. The unusual stick shift gets better and makes more sense over time. You catch peoples eyes with this machine.

2002 Honda Civic - 2002 Honda Civic
By S. Lovett - November 23 - 2:00 amAfter careful review for several months, I decided that the redesigned Honda Civic for 2002 was the automobile for me. I purchased my 2-door coupe in March of 2002, when the car makers were having wonderful finance offerings. I will have the car paid off after only three years - the resale value is big plus. My next car will be either a Honda Civic 4-door, or a 4-door Honda Accord.
