Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

Now that I have owned the car for a month I wanted to add to my previous review. Swapping out the OEM tires was a must. Whether you have the Goodyears or the Bridgestones, both are poorly rated on Tirerack and other sites. I had Custom Coach in Southington, CT move the drivers seat back a few inches ($350) and this has made the car much more comfortable for my 62" frame though the seats are not the best. Gas mileage is terrific at 34 to 37 mostly highway at 70-75 mph. Car is relatively refined and fun to drive for an economy car. No regrets trading in my V6 Accord for this car and that is saying something.

I was looking for a fuel efficient vehicle after my 99 Passat Wagon was stolen. I test drove the full line of Hyundais, Toyota Corolla and Matrix, Mazda 3 sedan and wagon, VW passat Wagon. Based on performance, fuel economy, styling and handling I chose the 2 door Honda Civic. It does not handle and is not as quick as my 99 1.8T Passat but it does get 10 more mpgs. I prefer a manual in a small engine vehicle as I find it to be quicker and more responsive. This was true of all the vehicles I test drove except the Hyundai Azera and V6 Sonata which are a different class of vehicle. Two negatives are the beeping that goes off once the seat belt is released and the clock is not visible with sun glasses.

I bought my Honda In July 08 And fell in love with it right away, from the way it drives to the style of the interior, exterior. Drove from New England to North Carolina and after 12 hrs of driving I still wanted to be in my car driving. I love my Honda Civic

This is a really different looking car. love the cab forward and the euro style wipers. There is actually quite a bit of leg room, Im 6 2" and feel very comfortable in the car. Also visibility out the back is good.

  • Fun to drive - 2006 Honda Civic

Having worked at a Honda dealership in the late 80s early 90s I was leary of owning a civic due to the small size and limited interior. Boy was I surprised. This civic is roomier than the 80 Accord I used to drive. Peppy and fun, this is a great car for those looking for excellent mileage and not wanting to compromise on comfort.

  • EX Coupe-5 speed - 2009 Honda Civic
    By -

Let me start with I checked out just about everything out there in this price range and took my time making a decision as I did not need a new car but rather wanted one. After looking for over a year I decided on the Honda Civic EX 5 speed and so far am very happy with it. The car rides nice and handles very well for what it is (I had Miatas, and MGs before this) the deciding factor was the Hondas resale value compared to everything else. If you are looking for a well built, fun to drive and reasonable cost to operate car look at the Honda Civic! The EX model has all the toys you need, sunroof, 4 wheel disc brakes, cruise, and a decent stereo system. I paid 17,451 including destination. Love IT.

  • Amazing Car - 2004 Honda Civic

Wow this car is great. Ive had it for almost a year now and love it. Its not a sports car but it doesnt drive like an economy car either. The gas milage is great. I get an average of 32 mpg, with mixed driving. More room than I would have expected. Im 63" and can still drive comfortably. The trunk space is also larger than expected.

  • Great car for the money - 2007 Honda Civic

Had the car over a month now, covering 1,000+ miles. I traded in my gas hog Nissan truck for the fuel efficient Civic EX and with rising gas prices, Im glad I did. Its getting an average of 32 mpg which is on the low side of the 30/40 epa, but from the 15 mpg I got in my truck, Im more than satisfied with it. The car is fun to drive and for a 4 door sedan, its easy on the eyes as well. I would have liked more interior colors choices but was only offered light grey to pair with the Atomic Blue exterior.

  • Great Gas Mileage - 2006 Honda Civic

Ive had this car for almost two years and I absolutely love it. For the past year I have been driving 35 miles to and from work, all freeway driving since my job and home are right off the freeway. I average between 37 and 40 mpg every time. I usually travel between 65 and 70 mph. Besides that, I also love everything else. I have 37,000 miles on my Civic with the same tires and brakes and I live in San Diego, CA.

  • Sleek & Stylish - 2017 Honda Civic

So far so good! Ive had my 2017 Honda Civic EX for 3 months & 2 days. I now have 12,000 miles on my Civic. The gas mileage is amazing I literally get 44 mpg highway. Ive drove to the city of Atlanta 3 times & I have to go back for a forth time in two weeks. The driver seat isnt totally confortable with no way to adjust the lumber bar. The steering wheel has the perfect balance. The screen in my EX model is easy to use & has the perfect sloped centered location. Apple CarPlay is good to have for navigation on the screen from your iPhone. Remote start came standard on my EX and I absolutely love it. Push button start is always a perk to have. Sometimes the CVT shifts at the wrong time which causes my Civic to jump when in stop in & go traffic at times. The daytime running lights are such a eye catcher. The Civic does sit low to the ground so having 4 average size adults would make the car weigh more to the ground. A full tank of gas says between 380-390 miles to E & a half tank says between190-200 miles to E. If you over fill the gas tank it will says between 430-460 miles to E. The 16 inch rims on my EX has a fresh looking appearance. Half the car is literally painted plastic & the other half is fiberglass. I typically drive on long stretch of highways minimum 40 miles one way to maximum 70 miles one way. So in one day I drive 80 miles to 140 miles on a highway.
