Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Economy Car - 2008 Honda Civic

Im a little let down by this car. Its the first Honda Ive owned. I bought it for its fuel efficiency to replace my F-150. I really expected more. It gets the same mileage as my old 2003 Camry 4cyl which had 150,000 km. This isnt bad, but I expected better even when new. I really hope it improves with time. However I dont think I will ever see those EPA numbers. The car rattles so much it is embarrassing - especially when cold, this car was not made for Canadian winters! The plastics scratch really easily. The door where your finger nails sometimes touch is the worst!!! The car does drive very well. I constantly have to remind myself this is not a luxury car by any means.

  • Honda Has Made a Real Winner - 2004 Honda Civic

It may not be the coolest car or the best looking, but the 2004 Civic is still a winner. We have consistantly gotten between 35 and 45 miles per gallon (that is a mix between city/highway driving too) The interior fit and finish is great and the manufacturer has made good use of space. The ride is exceptionally comfortable and doesnt punish the occupents. Leg room up front is great, though in the back its a little tight. While the Civic may be expensive on this end, the cost is obviously justified in the high fuel economy it gets and the pristine reliability.

  • Hybrid lives up to its MPG expectations - 2004 Honda Civic
    By -

Hybrid has lived up to its expectations for gas mileage. Instrumentation allows visual information to driver about inttantaneous and average MPG. Excellent mileage both in city, out in country, even in the mountains.Tows well behind motor home. MPG stays between 40- 50 MPG on all conditions with driver care to use information to adjust driving habits. Fun to drive knowing what MPG always is!!! Especially at $2.00 /gal gas. A new definition of performance for a car--economy,low pollution as well as safety and performance. It is a car I am proud to own and drive!!!

  • mine - 2004 Honda Civic

I been a chevy man since 73 but last year I traded my S10 blazer in for a Honda hybird civic. After 25 years of being a mech. and working on most makes and models I enjoy not having to work on my own, not only that but instead of filling up twice a week at about $30 or so for fuel now I fillup once every two weeks or so my average driving to work a day is 40 miles (one way) not only that but no tune-up till 110,000 miles and oil changs 2000 not any more now its 5000. The ride is more comfortable than most autos the same size. the only thing I dont like is I cant tow anything with it but Ill survive

  • fuel saver - 2004 Honda Civic

This is a very good car. I just bought my second 2004 HX exactly like the first. Good power great fuel efficiency and feels solid low wind noise even with the window open

  • Outstanding car, outstanding value - 2007 Honda Civic
    By -

The EX Coupe is not only technically sophisticated but is aesthetically pleasing both inside and out. The i-VTEC engine delivers more than adequate acceleration and its 1.8 liter size provides excellent mileage. Moreover, the content in the EX is astonishing for the price. It is like having a luxury car--a mini-Acura--for under $20K. All the convenience items are there, and some you dont expect, like speed sensitive stereo volume control and speed sensitive intermittent wipers. And despite some carps, the dual tier dash is a brilliant design. Speed can be monitored without deflecting your eyes too far down and yet the tachometer is mounted dead center, where it should be. FABU!

  • Great, fun car.... with problems. - 2008 Honda Civic
    By -

The Honda Civic LX is a great car. Its fun, flashy, responsive, and great on gas. Love the interior design; the elegant dash, the race inspired steering wheel. The two-tier gauge layout. On top: MPH. Bottom: RPMs and other vitals. They all just come together nicely. The exterior design is great too. Very sporty (I prefer the four door look myself). But wait, there are troubles in paradise. One big problem is the transmission (I agree with the other viewer). It clunks and down shifts gears in an odd way. RECALL! Another problem is the the cars two major blind spots. These are at the drivers 10 and 2 oclock positions. To make matters worse, the cars horn sounds like a cheap alarm clock.

  • Nice car - 2008 Honda Civic

Auto trans would downshift out of 3rd and 5th gears under light acceleration. Turns out transmission "adapts" to driver and I had babied it during break in period. Reset computer by holding pos and neg cables together for 2 minutes and then reconnect and let car idle for 10 minutes. Then I drove the car with a heavier foot for about 100 miles and now the shift points are much improved. Am a little wary of maintenance minder. There is no set maintenance schedule and the dealer will nickel and dime you at relatively short intervals. Otherwise, fun to drive and looks great at 30 mpg in mostly city driving.

  • Better than I ever expected - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

I wasnt too excited at the thought of owning another civic but the 2006 is almost like another class of Honda. Its an excellent looking car both inside and out and feels way more solid than my previous Civic with a lot more to offer. NAV is a great feature that I abosolute love! Had to put money down on one being built since a NAV sedan was in short supply. A great car, you cant go wrong.
