Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Great car, fix the headrests - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

Nice car. Good mileage (38mpg @ 1200 miles, mostly highway). 5 speed auto is nice, even coming from a stick, though I could do without it downshifting quite so aggressively. Only major problem sounds silly... The front headrests are too far forward, pushing your head forward and making it _very_ uncomfortable to drive for some folks (and my wife is one of them...) We didnt notice it on the test drive with all the other "Im in a new car" stuff going on, but be sure and check it out if youre considering one of these.

  • Could be a great car - 2016 Honda Civic

This car could be great, but I have had electrical issues well as problems with the third brake light housing. I have found, per my dealership, that every coupe with a third brake light has the housing coming down. Honda has not developed a fix for this yet so I have a third brake light housing that is hanging down from the rear area. As well as the electrical issues have left me less than satisfied. I hope Honda gets it together and fixes these problems soon.

  • Glad to be a Civic owner again. - 2007 Honda Civic

This is my third Civic with other cars between. The car handles better then my Passat and my Mustang. The steering is very light and precise. I noticed a good 34 mpg with a mixed hwy/ city driving. And the best part is no more high grade fuel as with my VW.

  • Just as Advertised - 2008 Honda Civic

I bought this a few weeks back and so far so great! The fuel economy is great, the ride is tight and at 63" plenty of room for a small car. The engine is small but peppy. The feel is tight and responsive although not overly smooth. Only complaint is the sound system which, as written about previously, is lacking. I upgraded the speakers to some Pioneer three ways which broadened the spectrum quite a bit. A larger amp and sub woofer would help but is not a pressing need. Overall this is a great car for my commute and around town needs. Highly recommended.

  • MPG ratings a BOGUS! - 2008 Honda Civic
    By -

I just went from a Ford excursion diesel 12 mpg city and 16 to 18 mpg hwy, 8000 pounds of truck. Great truck mind you. Bought this Honda so I wouldnt have to take out a second mortgage on my house. The Honda states it gets 27 city and 35 mpg highway. This is bull, I just finished my first tank of gas, I just filled up the car, mind you I have been driving the car like an old man. Mostly city and very little highway I just calculated out at 20.58 mpg. I knew the ratings were bogus, every car I have owned the stated mpg is always about 7 to 10 mpg off. As far as you people here stating that you got 32 mpg 35 mpg 38 mpg is that downhill without a driver? You cannot drive this car any slower than me

  • Whats Not To Like? - 2004 Honda Civic

This car never lets me down. Excellent quality build, decent performance for the size of engine and fabulous gas mileage. I am very pleased with this car, wish Id been driving Hondas for the past 30 years instead of a series of disapointing North American vehicles.

  • Civic Made Better With Valve Adjustment - 2000 Honda Civic

Good car made great by a recent (24000 mile) valve adjustment.

Im very satisfied with my 04 coupe.. I havnt seen another one on the road yet. I used Edmunds to locate a good dealer. Once there, we spent only five minutes on the price. Ive been enjoying my Civic ever since.. Its had absoulutly no problems. I love it and would recommend it to anyone!

  • Best In Class! - 2016 Honda Civic
    By -

The 2016 Civic absolutely blows away all of the competition. It is an absolutely beautiful vehicle. My son leased an EX and it has exceeded all his expectations. He really wanted the EX-T (turbo) but the EX fitted his budget. The design and quality, both inside and out is a huge advancement over the previous model, and is far superior than anything else in the price range. Performance is OK from the new 2.0 liter, but obviously not as peppy as the turbo. Im a hard one to please because I drive a 2016 Maxima, and am used to having a powerful engine. The Civic is very smooth and quiet, sporty but luxurious. The only problem my son has encountered is that the Bluetooth wont maintain a connection with his Android. It pairs and works fine with my iPhone. The Civic looks and drives like a much more expensive vehicle. Honda outdid itself with the new Civic. It is in a class of its own. Funny thing, when we park the Civic next to the Maxima, they look like they are models from the same manufacturer.
