Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Just what I needed. - 2002 Honda Civic

The car hanles very well, shifts incredibly smoothly, has just enough power to make it fun to drive. You rarely see SIs on the road, so people are always checking it out. I wanted the reliability of a Honda (my last Honda had 150,000 miles on it and still ran like new when I sold it), the versatility of a hatchback (its like a little station wagon when you put the back seats down), and decent performance, so this car was the logical choice. The performance and fuel economy have improved over the first 1l,000 miles, but the 26 mpg Im averaging is lower than I had expected.

I love the car and while it does get great fuel mileage, the gas tank is too small. I drive just over 80 miles a day and have to buy gas every thrre days. The tank filler tube is bent in such a way as to make it difficult the get the fuel nozzel all the way in. Filling must be done slowly. I would like to have a radio with a volume that increases as the speed of the car increases. The engine is a bit noisey.

The Honda Civic is a great car to drive. It handles well and it is fun to drive. The air conditioning on warm days takes a little while to get cool. Have not experienced the mileage that Honda claims the car gets. The Ipod connection is great. I am experiencing a noise that is coming from the passenger side dashboard that I cannot locate. Taking back to Honda to see what their service people tell me. Once this issue is corrected I would recommend this car to anyone.

  • Honda is a pretty good car - 2005 Honda Civic

We have looked at new cars for about a year and I already knew when I looked at a Honda that we would purchase one. I have never bought a Honda car but have five Honda ATV,s and Two Honda Offroad motor cycles that have lasted forever. I was a 25 year Ford and Lincoln customer and there ok but not like Hondas. Ford and Lincoln have better and more dealerships to deal with. They have just forgotten how to build cars over SUVs. I am still worried about being run over by a SUV with someone on a cell phone. 8000 miles and no problems and still tight. If you need a small car, this is the best I think. Now I need a new 7000 lb SUV for 2005 to help support oil companys.

  • A great car for little people - 1999 Honda Civic

This car is ideal for getting around town if you are a person who is five ten or shorter. I am a five foot four female and i have no problem feeling comfortable in my car but some of my male friends feel differently. there is little head and leg room for people who are tall.

  • Not so good - 2000 Honda Civic

I have my Civil for almost 2 years, havent driven it much until recently I starting working outside of the city. Had a small accident. The car I hit had no damage, but my civil was awful. It was a small hit in the front but Im estimate to pay 3 grand to get the hood and the radiator frame to replace. And now that Im on the highway all the time, the car does not pick up fast enough. Its too slow for my opinion. Overall, the car is reliable and performs well for what its worth, but the build quality is awful. A slight hit, and youll see major damage on your car. I would not buy this car again or recommend anyone to buy a civil.

  • This car is way better than Prius. - 2006 Honda Civic

Bought it 2 weeks ago. Excited with the actual fuel efficiency I am getting. For the first 2 tanks I got 50.4 and 52.6mpg, getting better. The cars sticker says 41-57 city and 43- 59 highway so no surprise some jack- rabbit drivers get poorer mpg but it helps if you know how not to drive. I think the number Forbes reported (26mpg city) is a Detroit hoax. Cool I get zero emission during stops. The car has good power and no problem at highway ramps or steep uphill. Stereo quality is not impressive. A plenty of interior room and the trunk space is fine for a golf bag or a large suit case. Factory window tinting could be darker. My dealer haggled and raised the price at the last minute.

  • Just leased this car and my son wants it... - 2016 Honda Civic

It handles well on the road. It has a roomy trunk and the interior is larger than expected, which is a good thing. I like that the driver has a clear field of vision and the driver and passenger mirrors are well placed. I mention this as I was thinking about getting a different car make and model from another manufacturer, but the exterior mirror placement was not my style. Ive not had a chance to do any service or maintenance, let alone fill the gas tank. My teenage son has already called dibs and says he really, really likes it. Weve had different cars and have gone back to Honda as it has a reputation for reliability, longevity and for holding its value. Jay at Norm Reeves Honda in Irvine was very helpful in getting us a car that fit our budget with a car that had style. He was very thorough in going over all the functions, controls and swag. Thanks for going the extra mile to get the color we wanted.
