Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

We really liked this car. You wouldnt believe what we hauled in the back. Bricks, lumber, kitchen table and oh yah a little over a half a ton of flagtone. It was our truck! This car has been very reliable and has exceptional gas milage.

  • Great for city driving - 2005 Honda Civic

I previously owned a V6 Accord but with fuel prices so high and my fuel economy so low it was time for a change. The switch to the (ULEV)Civic was the best move I could have made. It has all the features I expect along with great fuel economy (Sorry large truck and SUV folks 12 hwy/8 city is NOT good gas mileage) and is very quiet to drive both in town and on the highway. Im saving about $15-20 per week on gas vs. the Accord so far and have never looked back. So if you need a great small sedan to zip around town or for those weekend getaways I would highly recommend this car.

In the last year: $600 Brake job, $500 radiator replacement, $400 exhaust, Hood wont open, water leaks short out tailights, $300 blower fan, $200 broken spring, A/C shot ($600 repair job we declined) and we babied this thing! Finally got rid of it at 115K miles, supposedly mid-aged for a Honda, or so we thought. My 94 Mitsubishi Mirage, spartan as it is, 103K miles, hardly any repairs at all. Dont be fooled by all the Honda hype.

The car has been great. It is very reliable and I have never had a major problem with it. It runs well for a 10 year old car and still looks great - no rust. People dont believe me when I tell them its a 93. I would reccommend a Honda to anyone looking for a reliable used car. Hondas will be at the top of my list when I purchase my next car.

without a doubt, the most reliable car Ive ever owned.....moving up to an Accord, and passing this gem to my son....he should get another 100,000 miles of carefree driving from it.

  • Great MPG - 2008 Honda Civic

I have almost 40,000 miles on this ride. I sold a Mercedes C car because I drive so many miles and was only getting 26 MPG. I routinely get 38.9 mpg, never going below 36 and attaining 41.6 mpg on one trip. A larger tank would be great as I have to fill up every third day. I have had no problems with the engine, drive train, body, or trim. My only disappointment has been the drivers seat which has a one inch tear along a seam. It is very comfortable on good roads, a little less so on bumpy roads. At less than 20 grand for a fully optioned fuel sipper, it is a better deal than one of the hybrids.

I traded my Ford Explorer for the EX and quite glad I did. My payment is less than my fuel bill for my truck. The Civic EX is a great solid reliable vehicle. I like the iPod and aux connections for music and I am dropping my XM subscription. I like having everything work, and the joy of opening the roof to play with the wind is a huge plus to me.
