Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • In shop 5 times in 6 weeks - 2003 Honda Civic

The review title says it all. Ive owned the car 6 weeks and it has been in the shop 5 times. The build quality is *not* what I associate with the Honda name. This car has quite a few rattles. Also some of the carpet on the side of the trunk has already come off where a screw was missed. These are minor inconconveniences, but once again not the quality I expect from Honda.

  • nice car, but overrated - 2000 Honda Civic

the civic is a nice car for a new driver or someone on on a budget. i only had one minor, easily fixed problem. the other cars drove away with nary and scratch and mine was trashed and had problems ever since. i just ended up selling the damn thing for a nice new acura rsx that had the luxury of power windows. also, the gas mileage is overrated. i commute to college on an all highway route, and never topped more than 280 miles per tank. i get more than that with my rsx. plus...whenever the gas got low, it would take a few more seconds to start the engine. lastly, right after the warranty expired, the cd player went to bust.

  • Great Civic - 2008 Honda Civic

I have near 5000 miles on the EX-L Civic. This is a luxury compact sedan with plenty of room. Everything from the heated seats the dash display, the quality that Honda put into this car does make it a luxury compact. Best mpg so far 42! No need to slam the door closed, it closes with the sound of quality! I am totally amazed every time I get into this car. Can you say Swiss watch.

  • Great Value - 2012 Honda Civic

Hard to beat these things for value. Traded in a 2009 civic exl with 30,000 only because I have to be the first to buy anything updated. Cost me 4500 or 1500 per year. Lota nice new in electronics, softer handling and little less road noise. Downside......no standard xm in exl and the cupholders redesigned for cups that I dont have nor have yet found in stores. The center consel in my 09 was deep and big, this one is small and shallow. storage sleeves on doors have also been downsized. Have 1700 miles and at 32.9 mixed. I drive aggressively and seldom engage econ, also live in hilly area of western Pa. Aside from the storage issues love the car and would buy again.

The sound of that v-tec when you hit 6000 rpm, puts a smile on my face every time. This was my first brand new car and I absolutely love it. Would have liked to get the vehicle in white but settled for silver, I still get compliments on its style, people always think its an Acura. Premium fuel only adds about $2-3 per fill up. so stop reading this review and go get one today, theyre awesome! Also, go for navigation, mine is std. and I regret not upgrading.

This is a great car that I have had no problems with. The only part of the car that I dont like is the "a" pillar. The design is awful, rain enters vehicle while raining with window cracked open, wind is horribe against side of head. Just a poor design. The rest of the car is great. I would buy more if I had the money.

Hey, awesome gas mileage, low insurance rates and Hondas excellent reputation. I couldnt go wrong. Its speedy enough, handles corners well (especially when compared to my old Xterra) and is just fun to drive. Comfortable all the way.
