Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • 150k and going strong - 1991 Honda Civic

I bought this car new, and besides scheduled maintance no major repairs. It was the best car purchase I ever made. Used for commuting to work and around town, this car still looks fine (minor paint fade) and runs good. Recently noticed a slight oil burning problem, but with this many miles on this tiny engine, hey Im not complaining. I got 10 years of service and with no major problems. And I still commuting 100 miles a day!

  • junk car - 2002 Honda Civic

I made a big mistake to buy this junk car. It is so noisy and it is not reliable. I changed the springs in the front suspension and I will have to fix the noise come from the brake or steering.

  • My second Civic - 2009 Honda Civic

Ive owned a 2000 civic before this one and also an accord 2008 right now. This car is smaller than the Accord, but the quality is no less. This car is a great little 4 cylinder, very easy on gas, very quiet high quality Honda engine and nice handling. As I said on my accord review, I have own them all dodge, ford, chevy, toyota and Hyundai and where the Honda leaves the rest behind is time. After 3 or 4 years, the Honda still feels and runs like the day you purchased it. The others slowly show their age with squeaks, garage visits and part replacements. If you want a little car, easy on gas, top notch quality that will be trouble free for many years to come and hold its value - this is it.

  • DRIVE ME HARD - 1996 Honda Civic
    By -

1st owner. 80K mi. I push the car to the red line nearly every shift to get the power that I like, and the car seems to like the abuse. Oil changes and one a/c fix have been the extent of the repairs. Avg mpg=36. Predictable and fun to drive when the snow flies, as long as you put better tires on it. Stable and purring at 100mph, but engine unlikely to go over 105. Be ready to rev on uphill climbs.

  • Civics Great ! - 1993 Honda Civic

9 years of dependable, economic, maintenance & worry-free fun driving.

  • Honda Can Sure Build Cars! - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

Considered Volswagen Jetta, Toyota Corolla, Nissan Altima, Mazda 3. Honda Civic was always my number one choice and it easily was the winner! Have had the vehicle for a month. Averaging about 33-34 MPG for a combination of city/highway driving. Highly recommend spending a little extra money and get the EX trim line. Great to have the moonroof, alloy wheels, extra speakers and audio/cruise controls on steering wheel.

  • Fun Plus Economy - 2005 Honda Civic
    By -

This car does get the advertised economy. We have averaged 46.7 MPG for 21k miles. Trips often are 50+. The car is comfortable, agile, and peppy, assuming you are in the right gear. Manual shifts well, clutch is great. Instruments are clear and the MPG bars give you something extra to watch in boring traffic. I have only two complaints. First the back seat wont fold down. Second, they should have a hatchback version for versitility plus economy. All in all, a great car.
