Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • The Most Fun Value - 2009 Honda Civic

I was skeptical at first about a Civic. I previously drove a 2005 Corolla and wanted to "step up." I thought the Civic would not really be a step up. I drove many other cars from Toyota, VW and Acura first. Then I drove a Civic. Loved it. Has great steering, handling, ride and is pretty quiet. I have almost 1000 miles on my silver 09 civic ex manual and I couldnt be happier with my car or my payment. And I rest easy knowing that Ill be happy with a car that will most likely have few or no problems for many years to come. Its a great car. Go drive one!

  • 16 Months - Were Getting Ready to Dump - 2008 Honda Civic

Weve owned many domestic vehicles and decided to step-up to the superior quality of a Honda. What a disappointment! The first year was okay with the vehicle however its now falling apart. Performs poorly in the cold, if it starts at all. Dont think of driving in winter weather without snow tires. The alarm is toast. The electronics are on the fritz. Seat belts dont retract. Weather stripping is worn through. Loud clunk in the trunk area when making turns. Has a severe shake when approaching highway speeds. Hard to find a comfortable driving position. Overall, the most disappointing vehicle weve ever owned! Will never buy a Honda again.

  • Best Fun Per MPG - 2007 Honda Civic

This car is amazing. I have driven the car nearly 8000 miles, mostly highway, but about 20% city, and I am averaging about 53 MPG. Really, that is what the on board computer says and when I calculate it myself, I get more like 55 MPG. Either way, more than what the sticker claims. I drive conservative, but on straight-aways and downhill I go at least 70 MPH, and uphill around 55-60, so I do not drive exceedingly slow. The car is fun to drive and handles like a sports car...a definite great buy.

I just picked up my 91 DX Hatch, I have owned a 3rd, 5th and 6th generation Civic, this rounds it out with my 4th generation Civic. This car has 245,000 miles on it, original engine, runs strong, and peppy as ever. I will admit though, I did buy it to put in a ZC or B16a.

The car is great. It looks sporty and geared toward a young and smaller population. It handles great and has great gas mileage. Interior is cozy. The Dashboard makes it appearance really sporty.

  • Its like a Timex! - 1991 Honda Civic

I purchased this car with 100K and have put another 50K on it in two years. It is the most reliable car I have ever owned. Have had to replace the the original exhaust and front brakes. The heater/ac fan will need to be replaced in the near future. The Honda gets 36 to 42 mpg and runs like a sports car. My wife and I fight over who gets to drive it. I am hoping to get another 100k out of this wonderfully designed vehicle. "It just keeps ticking!"

  • 4dr DX - will get you to 200K miles - 1993 Honda Civic
    By -

I am about to trade in my 93 4-dr DX, and it is sad that I am only going to get around $1000, due to 174K miles and a bunch of cosmetic blemishes that Ive never bothered to fix. Its said because the car is still driving quite well after all of these years, and I think its worth a bit more (Im not going to bother to try to get more however). Ride is still smooth between 70 and 80 MPH, handles well in all weather despite puny 13" wheels. Fuel economy still excellent (30 city/40 hwy).

  • Love The Ride - 2016 Honda Civic

I have owned the Touring model for one month and use it for a weekly commute of 145 miles each way. I have enjoyed every mile. Great car to own and I have been driving for over 42 years. Owned a lot of different sport and luxury cars over the years and this is a nice combo of both. The Touring model is a few thousand more, but if I would not have purchased the Touring model, I would have always regretted it later. So far averaging 42 miles per gallon (as advertised), with a bit of a heavy foot... fun to take to the mountains (I live an hour west of Lake Tahoe) in Sport mode, but for my commute I use the Econ setting. Highly Recommend. Enjoy......

  • Please change the rear seats! - 2016 Honda Civic
    By -

HONDA DESIGNERS BEWARE...The Touring model is really a beautiful car until you notice the front and rear seats are completely different!?! The front seats are perforated leather worthy of luxury cars, but rear seats are of plain jane variety reminding you of police cruisers and taxicabs (puke!)

  • The car that wont die - 1991 Honda Civic
    By -

My 91 Civic has 150k miles on it now. I drove it through college, through grad school, and now its serving as a wonderful and, most importantly, RELIABLE 2nd car. I had to replace the alternator at 145k miles, but aside from that and scheduled maintenance, this car has demanded nothing of me. We also own a 99 Accord, and before the Civic, I owned an 87 Accord which didnt die until the transmission finally gave out at 257k miles. Were currently looking to trade in the 91 Civic for an Odyssey, but I dont want to betray my baby!!!
