Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

I have had my car for almost two years now and it is a 1993 Honda Civic LX. I love the car, it runs great and gets great gas mileage. I would be careful with the a/c system because mine blew out around 100,000 miles.

I have been a sports car guy - until $4.00 gas. I traded my 04 Accord V6 M6 on a new Hybrid. You have to learn a new driving skill - slow and steady vs. pushing apex turns. Have been rewarded with combined mileage 43.8 and Highway is 55.6. There is a lot of no a/c use to get this. Wind drag at speed over 50 mph kills mileage. Im staying at 58 mph on I-95 (dangerous but economical). You need to squeeze the pedal gently and learn to coast a lot. I have enjoyed the smooth driving style that results in top mpg. No rushing, no frantic lane changing - slow and steady wins the race. In this era of energy crisis I felt led to do something to do my part - Civic Hybrid is my statement.

This is a great car with a great fuel efficiency and inner space. I have never seen such a specious car among other brands. I certainly suggest Honda Civic LX to anybody who wants to feel the comfort and luxuary.

  • After one year, this car is fine - 2007 Honda Civic

There are many things I love about this car, its engine, 6 speed, wheels and handling. It is also comfortable and quiet on trips. It is very reliable, with no problems over the past year. In fact, it feels like a mini-Acura TL-S Type. My one complaint is the gas mileage. I can only get about 32 at highway speeds and thats if I keep it at 70 and below. Not an easy thing to do in this car because speed comes on quickly and keeps climbing. its easy to do 90 MPH. Love the interior but hate that you can only get black interior. It is very hot in a car with so much glass. It also shows lint like crazy. Radio is good too.

  • Best overall bang for the buck - 2007 Honda Civic

Ive been a Honda owner all of my life. Ive had a 1983 Civic DX hatchback, 1986 Prelude Si and a 1993 Civic EX. The 2007 Civic Si sedan is the best so far! You get Acura features and quality in the Si and its soooo affordable for a fun, functional, good looking, sporty sedan. The more we look at the sedan, the more Im glad we waited for the 4-door versus the coupe. My wife & I love it and its our family car now since we sold our SUV. The only recurring negative I have to mention is that third gear is a little tough to engage, especially when its cold. Honda service has looked at it three times and claims theres nothing wrong with it. Other than that. We have the PERFECT sedan!

  • Not what I expected - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

I have had the car for 2 days and 300 miles. I want to bring it back! Drivers seat extremely uncomfortable. Cabin noise excessive at highway speed. Doors and trunk do not close easily. Speedometer distracting. Radio sounds as if Im under water. Headlights are weak. Driving off the dealer lot a loud rattle in the dash stared as well as the airbag warning light coming on. I had much higher expectations for this car.

When I was looking for a new car I was admiring the Toyota Matrix (pretty much just a newer version of my 1987 Corrolla FX) and the Mini Cooper. I happened to run accross this beauty by happenstance. Even though it may be a year later than the "innovative" matrix and cooper, they can both learn some things from the designers at Honda. Theyve mastered the sporty feel and ride while retaining creature comforts (its so QUIET!) and style--soo sleek. Honda borrowed good ideas from toyota and bmw/mini, then made them better in the Civic SI Vtec

  • tremendous style and acceptable speed - 2002 Honda Civic

This car catches everyones eye. Most people cant tell who makes it until they see the emblem. I get compliments all the time. The ergonomics are the best, and the stock racing seats and the rally shifter as well. This car shouts "UNIQUE." Its not the fastest of cars these days...wait for the type-r, but these things can always be changed. Drop in a jdm integra-r engine easily, and turbo-charge, and you can probably start trying to compete with an mitsu evo.

  • The more I drive it, the more I like it - 2003 Honda Civic

Overall, Im quite impressed with the Hybrid and how seemless the IMA works. The more I drive the car, the more I enjoy it. It is especially quiet and once you get used to the CVT and the fact that the engine dies at stops, it feels/drives like a typical car

  • THE TRUTH - 1996 Honda Civic

Ok not to make this un-fair to Honda but it is a great car, but there is problems with this year. This car is VERY AND I MEAN VERY EXPENSIVE to fix when problems to to crop up in it. Ive had several problems witht he A/C unit, un-dectable problems with Stalling for no reason, and pathetic breaking. Less then a year ago I was involved in a car accident at 10 km, it caused over $5000.00 CND funds to repair well the guy I hit walked away with a cracked back bumper. Overall I love this car, even with the problems!
