Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • I rarely have to buy gas. - 2004 Honda Civic

I bought the hybrid to increase gas mileage. In addition, the Civic Hybrid is the most luxurious car I have owned. The basic price includes all of the items one usually pays extra for. It is perfect. The car easily stops on ice and snow. I get about 51 miles/gallon, or nearly 600 miles per tank (standard transmission. Have gas prices gone up?

  • Drives like a regular car! - 2004 Honda Civic

I wanted the fuel efficiency, but being a tall guy I felt too cramped in the smaller Hybrid cars. This one feels great and gets fantastic mileage in the city as well as on the highway! I cant believe that it drives like a regular car and accelerates as fast as my last truck.

What an outstanding car. Its quick, quiet and very well equipped. Very fun to drive. I prefered the Civic over the Prius because it is not quasi-futuristic like the Prius. It has a regular key and regular displays. Conversely the Prius display is extremely busy. Plus going from a Jeep Wrangler to a HCH I went from 18 mpg to 43 mpg - quite a savings. BTW - That was my real world mpg after my first tank.

  • Hybrid--The Best Choice - 2005 Honda Civic
    By -

I have driven my Honda Civic Hybrid for almost seven months and I am totally satisfied with this automobile. I had to get used to the small size, coming from an SUV but was not a problem as this car is fun to drive and gets superior milage. I average 35-38 mpg in the city and 45 on the highway at 65mph. The gas milage is slightly overstated on the dealers sticker and the milage you do get depends a lot on how carefully you drive the car. The autostop control is slow to engage when using the car in cold weather which reduces mpg and makes you think its not working properly. The engine has to reach a certain temp first. This car is an excellent buy for anyone.

  • Absolutely Perfect - 2006 Honda Civic

I come from a ten Honda family. My parents have 2005 models of the Accord and Oddyssey. Ive driven 3 Civics before, and this one bypasses them all. Excellent maneuverability, gas mileage and acceleration make this car a pleasure to take on my long weekend trips to visit my girlfriend. The stock sound system is great, and the MP3 capabilities give a whole new meaning to the words "Mix CD". You also would not expect such comfort for a car of this size, and being used to a 93 LeSabre, I am very happy with the head and legroom that the Civic provides. The standard safety features also provide a peace of mind when on the road.

  • Great car, not-so-great mpg - 2004 Honda Civic

Overall love this car. Fun to drive, fast and agile. First Honda Ive ever owned and I love it. Great styling, nice interior, love the stick shift on the dash. Honda should make a convertible model. This car will get me my first speeding ticket. Cant help but race it on the highway.

  • 2Dr EX Coupe the way to Go - 2004 Honda Civic
    By -

I bought the EX Coupe in late April and found it to be the best car. I looked at many different models and types of cars, but it runs smooth, gas economy is great. The V-Tec engine that does not effect fuel economy when AC is on is a great feature. I love it!

  • Love my Honda - 2009 Honda Civic
    By -

This is the first Honda I have ever owned and I LOVE IT! I was driving a van and getting 22 mpg. It was costing me a bundle so after researching fuel efficient cars I decided on the Civic. Its getting 36 mpg right out of the gate! Im thrilled with my decision and if it holds up like everyone says, then my daughter who will be driving in 5 years will be thrilled with it too. It holds my four kids comfortably and is roomy enough for my husband to drive and not feel cramped.

Have an 02 Odyssey EXL. Wanted a car with similar features and the EXL is very close. So much fun to drive the 02 sits now. Very quiet, tight fitting doors, NO complaints! Great gas mileage, last trip averaged 41MPG over 1200 miles. Very, very happy, it was an anniversary gift to each other!

  • To keep Or Not To Keep Is The Question. - 1996 Honda Civic
    By -

This car is absolutely great. I have had no problems ever! My mom bought the car in 96 and I took it over in 98. It is so reliable. Gas mileage is great. I dont take care of the car to the best of my ability but Ive never totally neglected it. If you want an affordable dependable mode of transportation Civic is the one.
