Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Car for the Mature - 2005 Honda Civic

Im 22 years old, I feel that cars these days rely on looks and dynamics. The Honda Civc 2005 LX, 4-door sedan is something where reliabilty is more focused than style of looks. This car is general purpose for familes, single, and pretty much any reason. My CO even has this car. The smooth riding is unlike anything for its price. If you want to spend more money I would reccomend the Accord 04+. Yet compared to other cars for the price of this car, bar none.

  • Cant go wrong - 2007 Honda Civic

Purchased in May, already 4000 miles (two long road trips), couldnt be happier. Yes, there are faster, flashier cars out there, but for overall practicality you just cant beat the Civic. Were actually looking at getting another. Its true, close to 40 mpg on the highway, about 30 or so in town. Granted, it doesnt have the pep that some may desire, but heck, its a 4-cylinder! The power, however, is plenty sufficient for merging onto the freeway, driving uphill, etc. And did I mention the gas mileage!? The EX of course has the sunroof as well as stereo controls on the steering wheel. The mp3 jack is a great feature as well. Honda is just doing it right. We love it.

  • UNCOMFORTABLE!!! - 1994 Honda Civic

If it wasnt for being the most uncomfortable car ever to exist, this car would be great.I have sinced sold my car because of this.It was a very reliable car, it is a shame it was so uncomfortable. The seat was so sloped it was like sitting in a hole. I started suffering from coccyx pain not long after I bought it. I had to see a physical therapist who said I will probably have this pain for the rest of my life (I am in my 20s). Now every time I drive,I am uncomfortable and have pain(and I drive a minivan). I don t think I could bring myself to ever buy a Honda again, even though they are probably one of the most reliable cars on the road.

  • Never givin up!! - 1991 Honda Civic

I luv my civic. Last year my license plate read "CVCMNDD"=CIVIC MINDED. Bought this car used back in 94 with 48,000 miles on it. It now has 161,000. Just had the alternator replaced at 160k and the a/c compressor at about 90k (my mechanic told me it was a dealer installed compressor, not one honda put in). This little baby began my love for Honda vehicles. I currently own a 01 Odyssey as well. Also had a 95 accord wagon ,98 Odyssey and 00 accord. But through all those other Hondas I just couldnt part with my civic. The accords are real nice but I feel the civic is the perfect little getting around town car.

  • Great Car - 1996 Honda Civic

This was the first car that I looked at in the lot, it was a sad kind of dirty little car. I took her out for a test-drive and she really delivered a lot more than I thought she would for a 4 cylinder engine. I bought her the next day after not even thinking that much about it. She has only 60,500 miles on it, and shes running perfectly.

  • So Far, So Good - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

One of the first HCH cars sold in the Raleigh, NC area. So far, my highway mileage has been between 45-53 mpg; city 35-42 mpg (my commute is 99% freeway). Seating is quite comfortable and the cabin is fairly quiet. Engine noise is most pronounced during hard acceleration and there is some wind noise around the side mirrors. Acceleration is adequate and the CVT (transmission) is wonderfully smooth. Overall, much improved over the 2005 model. Me likey! A lot!

  • Great little car - 1994 Honda Civic

Bought mine from a private seller in April 2000 with 95,000 miles on it for $6,800. Ive been very pleased with it. Clutch went out at 115,000 miles after dropping it at high revs a few hundered times racing on it.. Today it has 138,000 miles on it and its starting to burn some oil, probably worn valve guides. Ive upgraded the ignition, intake, exhaust and camshaft. Very zippy little 1.6L engine, even stock. I love VTEC. The car has never been garage-kept in its life and the paint is still very vivid bright red. Car has lived in the rains of Miami and the salt of winters in Chicago and New Jersey and dosent have a speck of rust on her.

  • Staying Young at 61 - 2009 Honda Civic
    By -

Ive had several Accords, so I know how reliable Hondas are. I have had my Si for a year now, and its the S2000 I didnt buy for reasons of practicality. I was 60 when I bought this sports car with a trunk and a (roomy) back seat. I love the styling, the performance, and most of all... the seats! These are the best seats I have ever had in any car; great back support, and with the red stitching and Si logo, they look way cool. I average about 25 miles per gallon in mixed driving (best was 28), not bad considering its hard to resist putting your foot down to experience the i-VTEC rush that kicks in at 6k rpm. I wish it was quieter, though. Engine noise is cool, but lots of road noise, too.

  • Fun, reliable, and fast - 1992 Honda Civic
    By -

I bought my car with almost 140,000 miles and was thusly planning some sort of engine swap. However, the little SOHC VTEC powerplant still pulls strongly to the redline without any complaints. Transmission shifts smoothly with semi-short throws, the interior is very comfortable, and all the fun power features still work blissfully. I definitely suggest this car to anyone, high-mileage or not.

  • 3rd Honda - 2006 Honda Civic

This is a great car. Room, features, styling are awesome! Buy the Navigation its worth it. This is my third Honda and my 2nd Civic (175,000 miles, oil changes, tune-ups and brakes only, no repairs)! Very satisfied.
