Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Honda civic more expensive, but saves - 2004 Honda Civic

You get what you pay for rings true with the Civic! Sure you will pay $2K more for this car over comparable sedans. But you get a car that can easily go 200K miles without any major repairs just regular maitenence. You have a car that buyers will fight for when you are ready to sell it. High resale, no costly and timely repair bills. Much better quality. Plus those autos offering those huge 100K mile warranties. Guess what, the seldom honor them anyhow! Been there, done that too! I have owned Honda Civcs for 18 years, never had any major problems with any of them. My last one was 7 years old had 227,000 miles on it, and it sold for $2900.

  • Honda listened!!! - 2006 Honda Civic

I just purchased the DX model. I am very pleased with so many things about this car! Thank you, Honda, for putting the same engine in all models. The safety factor is awesome! Fuel economy is near "hybrid" range with 40mpg! The DX model is stripped, but it gave me a chance to get into the car, I can always add my own stereo!

  • great looks for a hybrid - 2006 Honda Civic

as hybrids go, this car is the best. the gas mileage is on par with its main competitor, the prius but the styling is much better in my estimation. the ride is smooth and surprisingly powerful. i have a six cylinder mercedes and somehow the super efficient 1.3 liter civic engine with hybrid electric motor assist can easily get up to highway speed quickly. the best however is the interior design. the car feels more normal on the inside than say the prius. the 06 dash is really cool looking and quite functional. standard on the hybrid civic are -get this- 6 airbags! finally, the hybrid civic is built in japan and is very tight and well crafted. i highly recommend this car to anyone.

  • First New Car..... - 1999 Honda Civic

Well, The 99 Si was my first brand new car. I was driving an 87 Prelude Si. When I first test drove it, I felt that the prelude was snappier. i then decided to try a theory. Since the Civic had an entirely different RPM range, I changed the RPM where I was shifting and it became another beast. I bought the car that day.

It took months to finally settle on one car, and I chose the Civic EX w/ Navi. This is a great car that is continually impressing me with each trip out in it. This is my first Honda, and I have a feeling it wont be my last.

  • Object of my affection - 2003 Honda Civic

I have made 7 trips Sacramento to San Diego at speeds of 65-75 over the coastal mountains each time and still was able to maintain a 40-42 mpg average. Each time over the mountain, I did not have to drop my speed to less than 55 mph with moderate passengers/weight.I have taken car for maintenance visits as specified with no problems or failures. The costs for each visit was not unusual. I am highly satisfied with the vehicle and will replace it with another as soon as I can affords same. I have begun saving to replace the battery in case I choose to keep the car.

  • Downsized from truck - 2008 Honda Civic

Fun car to drive, with a lot of pep. This is the first car I have driven in 15 years, as I have owned trucks until now. Researched several small cars for efficiency, fuel mileage, reliability, and resale value, and this is by far the best choice I could make for my money.

  • A/C didnt work from the start - 2014 Honda Civic
    By -

yes thats right first week i went to use the a/c and nothing but warm air came out, wish I tested it at the dealer. Was very unhappy to have not even a week old car in the shop needing a repair. Two years with it and its starting to show some wear. The paint isnt durable theres a couple rock chips on the hood. Things I dont like: everything about the CVT especially the loud whine noise. dont recommend for highway driving., excessive road noise, no volume knob, numb steering and driver side window shifts the interior door in the direction of the window going up and down.
