Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • sporty, fun to drive, but annoying controls - 2017 Honda Civic

Fun car to drive. We have gotten many compliments on its looks. Stock tires suck in the snow. I dont like the center console and I wish there was a light in the glove box. The touch screen interface is horrendous. The nav system socks. It often looses location. I still use it, but also have use my phone because I dont trust the nav. And there are other annoying things about the touch screen that make me realize Honda knows nothing about usability.

  • Spend lots of time test driving - 2008 Honda Civic

My wife, mom, brother, and friend all have Civics. They all praise how great they are. So, after almost 10 years of driving my Dodge Neon (which had been great, but didnt want to push my luck and needed a change), I decided to get a Civic. I love the styling inside and out. So, my heart was set on a Civic, but I wish I test drove the one I bought a little more. Overall, I still like it, but Ive had it in the shop a couple times due to strong pulling to the right. Its better, but still seems very sensitive to the road. Neon went straight forever. Also, theres a slight throttle hesitation when you take off from an (almost) stop. Otherwise, drive is smooth, avg 35 mpg, now @ 2000 mi.

  • GREAT LOOK! - 2003 Honda Civic

The car is very fun to drive and the ride beats any past civic. If you have ever owned or driven a honda civic in the past you will appreciate the difference in handeling and suspension on the 2003.

  • one year later - 2002 Honda Civic

I purchased my 02 around one year ago and still love the car. Have especially enjoyed comfort, interior design and build quality. Car is still fun to drive, though it probably could use 40 more horse power and larger wheels. Has very good handling and aside from oil consumption in first 6000 miles no real problems (just turned 16K). The exterior design grows on you, but the large slab sided doors are an invitation to dents. Would be nice to have some sort of side molding or other protection. Sun roof controls should be near steering wheel.

  • Economical Fun Car - 1993 Honda Civic
    By -

I bought my first new car as a Honda Civic EX Coupe in 1993. The car was a joy to own and drive. The Civic EX Coupe came with many power features, like PW,Moonroof,PS, great brakes, power mirrors, and super gas mileage. The car is a bit light weight and also becomes noisy climbing up hills and mountain roads. However, the four cylinder V-Tec engine with 125hp can handle most situations. The best feature of this car is the power moonroof, something rarely offered on cars of this class. Also you cant go wrong with Hondas reliability. Normal matienance items were all that were needed to keep it happy and going.

  • One of the first touring turbos in Seattle area. - 2016 Honda Civic

I ordered one of the touring addition civics well before they were available. Im very pleased with my purchase. The car is awesome-great style, good electronics, great handling, and comes with Honda reliability. I was blown away at how quiet the car was in comparison my Acura. Its about the same size on the inside as my TL but significantly quieter with better fuel economy. The interior design and electronics are excellent, and Apple CarPlay is a homerun. I only have a couple of small gripes on the vehicle. First of all, they should make one adjustment to the Honda sensing package. Specifically blind spot monitors are much better solutions and the lane watch camera. Lane watch only helps you on the passenger side and doesnt do anything for the driver side. Putting the sensors and for blind spot warning would be A significant improvement. Secondly, and only time will tell, my fuel economy combined is running about 27 MPG. With the ratings on the car being 35 combined, this is a bit of a disappointment but Im hoping it improves over time. Finally, the fit on the leather seats just isnt nearly as good as the fit on the cloth seats. The clock is much more comfortable and the leather just isnt as tight. Overall I am extremely pleased with the vehicle and suspect that Ill see a lot more on the road and coming months.

  • Mixed ratings - 2005 Honda Civic

My honda has turned out better than i expected. I drive about 120 miles back and forth to work daily. It keeps up with traffic on the highway once you get up to highway speeds.

  • Good car, but no longer the best - 2004 Honda Civic
    By -

I got this car mainly b/c I like the local Honda dealer so much. I retrospect, I wish Id gone with the higher fun factor that you get with the Mazda Protege5 or the new 3. I would also like the wagon utility that the Honda doesnt have. The Civic has good ergonomics and a quiet cabin. It is easy to work on and gets great gas mileage. The 04 facelift is also far more appealing than the earlier Civics. On the down side the car is painfully slow due in part to the gearing which seems more interested in fuel economy than performance. The seats are also a bit uncomfortable on the long haul. Overall, the Civic is a good car but the Mazdas are a lot more fun.
