Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • The little Honda that could... - 1991 Honda Civic

I bought my Honda used from a private owner back in 98 for $3,500. This car, (LUCY BLUE)will not die. She just keeps going and going. She now has 260,000 miles on her and I bet she will last another 50,000 easily. I have not had to do anything really major to her, other than replacing CV joints twice, Clutch twice, and a radiator.(By the way, the radiator was my fault- I guess she was not meant to jump sand hills at the beach:) I will definately buy another Honda, matter of fact, thats all Im buying!

Except for a couple of years during which I traveled long distance between LA and Chicago, I mainly drive around in circles on a little island. This car behaves like its a part of me -- just point it and go! Unfortunately, after seeing an increasing number of truck and SUV tires breathing down my face at stoplights, Im also beginning to imagine one of these automotive Neanderthals losing control and squashing me and my SI like a bug.

In the last 6 months Ive owned this car: its been nothing but a breeze. For all its Si accoutrements, its a Civic. Driving? Not a breeze so much as storm-speed winds. Because it is awesome. Its the most fun Ive ever had driving the car, I love it a little bit more each time I fire it up. Its quick, nimble and uncomplicated.

  • Great value for the money! - 2007 Honda Civic

I invested in a Civic hybrid over an EX because the IRS tax credit, dealer discount, and annual gas savings make this almost the same price after the first year! The new Civic design is fantastic. Older generation Civics always drove rougher than Accords, but this generation handles very smooth and tight for a small car. Im getting 44 mpg on the second tank and am learning how to drive the car for maximum mileage. I dont expect to get EPA mileage values of 49/51, but I will try. As for features the car has everything I need: navi with XM radio, steering wheel controls and voice activation, info display on dash for mpg, outside temp, trips, oil life, and total miles. Great overall car!

I purchased the Honda EX Coupe in Feb 2003. Had it on a lease for three years and 40,000 miles. Never the slightest problem with the vehicle. Decided not to purchase as I have two other newer vehicles, one a Honda and one a Toyota, and I no longer need a third vehicle. I have had my share of American nameplates over the years. Most of which I didnt want after a couple of years. On the other hand, it was a sad day when I turned in my Civic. Based on my experience with the 2003 Civic, I will, without a doubt, point my daughters to a Civic when the time comes for them to buy a vehicle.
