Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

Great car for the money. Four doors, an auto, and over 30 mpg with Honda reliability. This car is everything a family needs -- up to three children. Also, the total ownership cost is minimal.

Bought last week and absolutely love it. I drive 70 miles a day and this car will probably save me $100 a month in gas. Fun to drive and the Special Edition package is a tremendous value for a extra few hundred dollars. Its nice looking and fun to drive.

  • Loud noise, when water splases exhaust - 2002 Honda Civic
    By -

Does anyone else have this problem with the 2002, Honda Civic EX, 4dr, 5 speed Man. When driving through puddles the water splashes on the exhaust and has a loud noise, the noise you would here if a car had no exhaust. As it dries, 30 seconds, it goes away. Honda knows of this issue and calls it a "charateristic of the car". I was told by the dealership, after they replaced a strut and the problem still was there. Today, Aug 5, I contacted Majestic Honda,W. Wariwick, RI. (I purchased the car from their Lincoln , RI dealership) and asked to speak with the the owner. I will receive a callback from the owner. Scott,

  • Why all of the bad press? - 2008 Honda Civic

I have traded-in my 2004 Honda S2000 because I needed more space. This car gives up very little in terms of handling and performance. I love the way the car looks and the exclusivity of owning one. I guess I am a little too old (31) for the Fast and Furious look, but everything thing added to the car has a purpose and has been engineered as such. I imagine that this car is marketed to a select few, but I hope Honda keeps the Mugen cars coming stateside. I also love the color. This is the first car I have owned that is not white, silver or black.

  • Absolutely Superb! - 2008 Honda Civic

5600 mile trip AMA to NJ to NC to Austin to AMA: 37.54 mpg; highway portion: 38.73; city (incl DC rush hr): 30.42. Seats firm, but even a 700+ mile day was fine. Pushing it on NC 80 from I-40 to Blueridge Pkwy (posted 45 mph; most curves 15-20 mph rec) was fantastic: engine, gearbox, clutch, steering feedback, & stable seats combined for the most fun Ive ever had driving a car (Im 65). Car has 2 personalities: economy or fun. I dont think any other car can do both this well under $20K -- particularly with the EXs safety & Hondas reliability. The beige/ivory color combo & sunroof mean minimal AC use. On hwy, recirc the air, keep heat off, & turn AC on/off as needed. Will incr mpg!

  • Troublesome and uncomfortable - 1994 Honda Civic
    By -

Uncomfortable drivers seat. Limited seat adjustments, awful slope to the back of the seat. At 80k miles the temperature selector knob failed due to a broken linkage cable behind the dash. Expensive repair required remove the entire dashboard. Entire air conditioner failed, resulting in $1,300 repair bill. ABS pump makes scary noises and the ABS idiot light flickers at times. yet dealer insists nothing is wrong. Brakes are inadequate, despite servicing from Honda who claimed they performed to specs. The factory stereo system is anemic. The 1.5L engine, even with manual transmission, is barely able to get out of its own way.

  • The Truth - 2003 Honda Civic

At 72k IMA goes out and they repair for free, its the law. At 130k miles CVT transmission shreds to nothing. After spending $5000.00 on a new transmission the computers and IMA LIGHTS start lighting up and now youre in a death trap with an acceleration of 0-60 in 60 seconds. HONDA COULDNT CARE LESS. You know the 3% of customers that get screwed by corporations that are too big to notice or care? Thats us!
