Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Worlds Best Value - 1996 Honda Civic

Needed a car for my daughter. Wanted to spend $5000. With some shopping some 96s can be found at that price. Had already bought one Honda Civic on Ebay and it worked out..took another chance. This one had been hit. Dealer didnt disclose. Out side of that, the car runs as expected. 115,000 miles and the steering is tighter than my $30,000 Oldsmobile with 40,000 miles.

The 2009 Civic Hybrid is a new, reliable auto that seats 4 comfortably, has great interior & trunk space for a compact and gets 40-50 mpg. I live in San Francisco area and avg hwy speed is 70-75. No noticeable difference in acceleration, merging or passing from the v-6 Chrysler Sebring I traded in. The only difference is no squeaks, shakes. Solid body and handling, like the interior and layout, very good sound system. Try it, youll like it.

  • Awesome Car!!! - 2002 Honda Civic

Got this car a week ago and it hauls!!! Considering that this car has a base RSX Integra engine in it for $16,000 (little bit more than what I paid for it) youre getting a lot of car for the money. The wheels are really nice, the seats are out of this world. Im really tall and can actually fit in this car with no serious discomfort. This car loves to rev high and go fast. Salesman let me take the car for 30 mile test drive and he let me race people in city traffic with it! Beat an old Integra GSR and a Jeep GC V-8 with peeling the tires out -but hey, I won them with a car worth so much less?

  • All doubts vanished - 2003 Honda Civic

I was skeptical at first about performance and comfort, but after one test drive all of my doubts had been resolved. There is plenty of room for taller drivers (myself 63"), and with four adults riding along with the A/C full blast we were still able to comfortably pass other cars on the freeway. Ive received many compliments on the blue/silver color of the exterior, along with the styling and brightness of the dash. This is definitely a good car to pick up if you need a high-mileage vehicle that will save you some gas money year after year.

  • Love it so far and hope to love it more! - 2007 Honda Civic

Bought this in summer 07 as a new replacement for my creaky, marshmallowy 94 Camry. I chose the Civic SI in favor of the Mazda 3 Hatch due to the firmer, sportier suspension, better looking interior, and overall driving fun. I took 2-3 testdrives in the coupe and sedan before buying and on my last drive I told my husband "Get me out of this vehicle before I write them a check right now!" I will add that Ive also experience the 3rd gear pop-out and grinding issues; thought it was just me. Have found that 2500 (right at abt 18-21mph) & 4000 rpm are where it likes to hit that gear best but you must be precise. I wonder if this is partially the "hang-throttle" issue.

  • The Pros and Cons - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

Currently at 2500 miles, the mileage only keeps improving. The car rides beautifully, and I absolutely love it. The car is a 10/10, except for a few things that I would advise new buyers to be aware of after they purchase it. I am 62 and I have to bend my knees to sit. This is the standard posture for driving, but my leg hits the tip of the hand brake, and it is rather painful. The paint over the handbrake tip is starting to wear off too. Also, The blind spot is impossible to check. I am a very very safe driver, but yesterday i almost ran over a VW bug! The 12" wide rear bars block the Blind spot. Turning your head over your shoulder is NOT enough.

I put in Aftermarket Leather Seat Covers - and the car is Now 100% Luxurious, Drives Great - Smooth Pickup Acceleration - Gears You don feel - GAS (So So - Supposed to be 30 in the city, I get about 24 but that is NYC, Highways is As stated 40) Went from a big Car Q45, to this and I so far I am saving about 50 Dollars a week On Gas, about 100 a month on insurance, and another 500 a month on Depreciation. 650 Not bad for an excellent car - Not small at all!! - If you are a thinker, an Average Household - Dont buy a used JUNK! This will cost You A LOT LESS, IF nothing at all in the LONG RUN - Good Luck..

  • Excellent - 2008 Honda Civic

I have been driving this car for the past month and I love it. I took two long trips and during one I got 31 mpg. The other was a whopping 34.8 mpg I am loving this at the pump. The car is fun to drive and is very peppy. I came from a large SUV and although the ride is quite different, I wouldnt trade my Honda for anything.

  • It turned me! - 2002 Honda Civic

Ive been a longtime diehard V8 lover. That being said I had it up to my eyeballs with replacing parts for my Firebird and finally broke down and bought a Honda for its reliability as a daily driver. To my amazement this is an incredibly fun to drive little car and its got enough power to play around on the freeways (Ive gotten it up to 135mph). In addition to that the handling is the best you could imagine on any car under $40K. I still take my TransAm to the track on the weekend, but the Si really changed my mind about I-4s.
