  • Not getting mileage - 42 mpg, instead of 45 - 2007 Honda Civic

Very good car overall, however, I would have expected to get no less then 45 mpg, I have some local and some highway driving. On highway, I cruise at 69 mph. I called dealer, he said my mpg should improve after 7500 miles, currently I have 3200 miles.

I agree the headrests are painfully forward (but I guess thats to help in a crash. May try the Accord headrest swap, thanks!) Road noise on certain surfaces, otherwise nicely quiet. Getting 28 mpg on my 60/40% city/hwy commute. Good handling (0.81g!) on Eagle RS-A tires. I like the surprisingly quick steering ratio for an econo-sedan. The digital gauges do work well - you can keep your eyes on the road ahead while checking speed/temp/gas. Accelerates quickly enough, esp. considering the fuel economy. Headlights work well with wide even light pattern and flat European cutoff.

I had been driving a 1998 V-6 Accord. It took me a couple of weeks to learn how to drive the Civic hybrid. My mileage has been around 42-44 mpg and from the other reviews I’ve read, I’m sure my mileage will improve as my driving habits improve. I couldn’t be more pleased with its performance. It has plenty of acceleration and handles very well. It has a bigger interior feel that what you might expect for its size. By the way, I paid $23,100 with navigation

  • A Great Car Overall - Get it!!!! - 2007 Honda Civic

Overall this car is the best I have ever driven. The interior and exterior are simply awesome... definitely the typical Honda... 2 thumbs up to Honda this time! The seats are a bit uncomfortable, but not too bad to deal with.

  • 2007 Honda Civic EX w/nav - 2007 Honda Civic

I never though i would be a civic owner. To bland etc.... However I now drive 140 miles a day and I had to think of gas cost and reliability. To sum up this car is great! Very comfortable to drive and responds well. For the size of the car it has pretty good pick up. There is wind noise at higher speeds (75-85). The Nav system is great. The interior seems surprisingly more spacious than our subaru. The dual dash does take a little time to get used to but I find that i now prefer it than the traditional displays. Gas mileage during the break in period has been between 30-36 mpg. And this is all highway driving. Although as you have seen above at higher than EPA speeds for determining MPG.

So far no problems other than a drivers side sunshade breaking. Wonderful daily driver. Looks great, handles great, extremely comfortable even on long drives. Great standard transmission. I look forward to many more years of blissful ownership. For an econobox vehicle I dont think you could do any better.

  • Experienced hybrid driver puzzled - 2007 Honda Civic

Have had Civic Hybrid for 5 weeks. Avg mpg is 22!!! ? hwy up to 44 mpg but genly 39. City and overall avg ends up at 20-22. I drove a Honda Insight hybrid on same roads for the last five and a half years. Hwy was 69-70 mpg with max of 83. City was more like 39 mpg. The point is, I am a hybrid driver. Insight was stick. Civic automatic. Cant imagine Im doing something so wrong to get less mpg than most small cars, much less what hybrid should get. Any thoughts from anyone? Brought it into dealer twice. They said they got 35 city/44 hwy in 10 mile test drive. I have driven 1000 miles now, with a continuous avg of 20-22 city. With heat on or off. looking for answers

  • Great on Gas AND Fun to Drive! - 2007 Honda Civic

I purchased the Honda Civic EX without a test drive since I had already test drove the 2006 Civic and the 2006 Toyota Corolla last year. I liked the way the Civic drove while being somewhat of a cross between an economizer sedan and a luxury car. Highway mileage at 40 seems to be a misnomer. I cant beat 36 mpg with slow acceleration highway although I have less than 2,000 miles on the car. My previous new Civic (1990) beat the ratings, so these new ratings seem to be overly optimistic.

  • Your foot controls the mileage! - 2007 Honda Civic

My Civic Hybrid 2007 has a little more power than my 2005 had, but the mileageis averaging 47mpg vs the 2005 average of 51. The new digital readout dash is fun to use and helps the driver to drive more sensibly. I drove Alligator Alley to Miami on a Sunday morning and averaged 57 MPG obeying the speed laws.
