Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

This is a very good car. Its reliable and fun to drive. I initially purchased the car for my daughter. She drove it for the first 20,000 miles. I took it over after two years. I have been driving the car for 80,000 miles. I have not had any problems. The car is ready for its 100,000 mile service and I look forward to the next 100,000 miles.

  • Fun Ride TOO - 2009 Honda Civic

On my first drive, I was a little concerned about the Hybrids ability to merge with traffic but very glad that I took the second drive and bought it. No problem in merging. I agree with First Honda that the Civic (Hybrid too) is a really fun and peppy ride. Also agree on the drivers seat being extremely uncomfortable. I too am 58" and have back issues anyways but there is no lumbar support on this vehicle. No problem with visibility and foot seems to remain on the pedal fine.

Overall, this has been the best car experience Ive had in over 50 years of driving. Handling, comfort, operating costs, mileage, and trunk capacity, all play in this products favor.

  • Why I LOVE My Honda - 1996 Honda Civic
    By -

In the 6 years Ive owned this car, and with 2-3 oil changes a year, Ive never had to worry about it starting on cold/hot days or breaking down on side of road. I was recently in accident going 35-40 mph. Was VERY pleased with the lack of damage to front of body. Seat belt didnt hurt me and air-bags did NOT unnecessarily deploy. Very happy.

  • 2012 Civic EX 4door - 2012 Honda Civic

Disappointed to hear CR wrote a poor review. I had an 06 same model, sold to grandson, bought 2012. Not a lot of difference. The dash display encourages thrifty driving; ECON setting really works. Good handling, etc., but perhaps it just "stayed the same" in many respects while competition improved. Get 40+ on highway, 30 in city. Seems quiet enough. Have to program door locks, sort of annoying the way they work. Hard to program radio. Recommend the car. Seems a bit roomier for the driver, seatls are better than 06.

  • Hondas are the best! - 2005 Honda Civic

The new special edition sedan is a big step above the previous models. The sound system is incredible and the addition of two extra speakers (six in total) along with a leather wrapped steering wheel gives the sedan the feel of a much more expensive automobile. My entire family has owned nothing but Hondas since 1989 and weve never been disappointed.

  • visability - 2002 Honda Civic
    By -

Im considering a trade in. I am 56" and have to sit on a pillow to see out the back and then the visability is less than optimum. The front is so lowriding that you have to park farther back from the curb so you dont scrape the front bumper. Also the front windshield posts seem to be placed in such a position that they can block out vehicles coming from the 2 and 10 oclock positions. I only have 6600 miles on the car and really think I got better performance from my 1990 4Dr Civic.

  • The most fun yet ! - 2006 Honda Civic

This is my third new Honda Civic and it is by far the most amazing to drive. The suspension has been totally changed and feels just like a luxury car. The transmission is flawless and the handling is perfect. The interior is quite nice but the dashboard is truly awesome and very unique. Curtain side airbags are one of the reasons why I chose the Civic over the Mazda 3.

  • Lemon - 1993 Honda Civic

Maybe I got the lemon of the Honda world but my Civic DX definetly has issues. In less than a year I have replaced the engine, only to find out recently that the newer engine it has now is no good either, head gasket replaced, spark plugs replaced twice, timing belts twice, radiator, CV boots, and just your basic tune ups, the car has been on one long trip (150 mi.) and the rest of the time has just been commuter. So far in less than a year I have spent close t 2500 dollars on repairs. Maybe I just got a lemon but I have not had a positive experience!!!

  • An excellent automobile, but not perfect - 1997 Honda Civic
    By -

Honda Civics are often well reviewed by the automotive media and consumers. I think that the praise is deserved, but somewhat exaggerated. I have owned my 97 Civic LX for five years now. I am happy with it, I have had no mechanical problems, and I still like the way it looks. However, I think that the Civic is very much lacking in comfort. My chief complaint regards excessive cabin noise. The engine and road noise are far too loud for long distance trips. Even a short commute to work can frustrate as I often have to play radio at a loud volume to drown out the noise.
