Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

Hi, This is a great car. If in good condition it would be a great bet as a used car. I did have a problem with the distributor bearing. The car needed a new distributor . Other than that it has been a classic Civic with all the reliability.

My parents helped me with this car for a graduation present and I love it. Its fun to drive, great on gas and is very stylish inside. Ive gotten nothing but compliments on it and I love it. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a reliable coupe.

Fun to drive! Onlly gripes: Too much body lean during cornering, RPMs too high at 70 mph (5-speed - @ 3500 RPM).

I was rather disappointed with the reliability of this Honda and probably spent more in repairs than would normally be expected. It started burning/leaking oil around 150K and I finally had to let it go at 174k with barely any residual value. Electrical fixes cost me quite a bit over the years too. The brakes seemed to have nice longevity as did the A/C unit and never any problems with the transmission/clutch.

  • Its better than a brand new 2010 ford focus!! - 2008 Honda Civic

I got this car from a man who did all the work on it himself. The car was used by his wife to go to and from work. Immediately when I got into it, I fell for the car. The man had gotten it certified from a Honda dealer preowned and it ran better with 111k on it than my ford focus did with 60K on it, also the build quality of the interior was far better than the Ford. My biggest downside to the honda is the hard seats and its hard to get out of compared to the Ford, here is more about that car. I had a brand new 2010 Ford Focus EX, fully loaded, and all I miss about it, is the seats, stereo and gas mileage. The build quality compared to the honda was very bad. Ford used so much plastic for the dash, door panels, and console that by the time it had 40K miles on it, the inside started to rattle like it was falling apart already. Once I reached 60K it started to idle rough, with 150K spark plugs in it!! I found that selling a fully loaded, leather, sunroof, heated seats etc did not help the value of my return when I sold it back to a dealer. The honda runs perfectly and the man told me he had not changed the spark plugs or wires, the car now has 149K on it and it still runs exactly the way I bought it. It is highly reliable, virtually never needs any repairs and the gas mileage on the HWY with cruise control is quite good. I can drive from Chattanooga Tn to ATL Ga on a quarter of a tank!!! The ford had better gas mileage but terrible build quality.

Im lovin my Si! I got her Sept 02 and its been great since. Only thing that was a bit sucky is that I had a bad accident with it about a month after getting it >.< trying to avoid a deer, lost control and hit a guardrail head on! Luckily didnt hit it hard enough to deploy the airbags, but still, a lot of bodywork later, and she looks great!

I love this car. I couldnt decide between the Honda, the Corolla, a Saturn, or a VW, but this was the best value and I love it.

I totally loved my car, enjoyed it for over 13 years. The car currently has over 222K transmission is starting to give up.. otherwise, the car never gave me any problems. It was totally reliable, I Maintained it properly. I will miss my car terribly. I have a new car, and was still using my Honda Civic DX Sedan because it was my favorite.
