Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Bad Quality - 1996 Honda Civic

In 2nd month, window got stuck after paying toll on NJ Turnpike, had to drive the next 90 miles in freezing cold with wide open window. Afterwards, there was a big wind noise on the driver side window. The hatchback rattled all the time. Everytime the car went in for an oil change, I had service guy check it out. Every time he claimed it was fixed. It came back again. The AC broke down in the first summer. With skinny tires, the car changed lanes on its own whenever theres strong cross wind. Little power. Dealer ate the new car survey. Sold it after 3 years. Would never buy another Civic.

Fuel mileage for 2 months about 47 mpg. 42 mpg if drive like an like a teenager. Drive a mix of in town and rural roads. Interstate running 70 about 45 mpg. Seats get a little uncomfortable after an hour or two.

  • The best car Ive owned. - 2005 Honda Civic

This car has plenty of power and gets awesome mileage. I drive on the freeway a lot and this car easily cruises at 80mph if needed, no problem. You cannot tell when it is running on gas or electricity and it is quick off the mark at traffic lights, even though the engine turns off when you come to a full stop. It has amazing headroom, my 64" buddy can sit in it no problem. The only comment is that the 12V power outlet could be positioned somewhere else as it prevents the 2nd cup holder from being used when you have something plugged in. PLUS I get a $2000 tax break on next years taxes!

  • ALL I CAN SAY IS RELIABILITY - 1995 Honda Civic

I purchased my Honda back in 1998 with 35000 miles on it. I now have 85000 miles on this. The body works rusts a bit but with the money you save from having to repair major "under the hood" problems, you could get a new paint job. Passed inspection all 5 years with only needing tires...(too good to be true).....

My first major purchase. I am happy it was a Honda Civic. The interior is not cheaply made like many vehicles. Do the basics of the vehicle and you will be smooth sailing. No American cars for me.

  • Best package ever - 1996 Honda Civic

I have had this car for one year. It has 75k on it now had 69k when I bought it. There have been ZERO problems, and Ive grown to love it more and more. The engine cant be better-- it has a suprising amount of power for the fuel economy that it gets. I now believe if you buy any other subcompact car, you are either really braindead or havent done your research.

  • Good Car!!! - 1999 Honda Civic

I really love this car. Its been great for getting around the city streets in and driving it on the highway every day to work. Gas milage is good. It did very well on a long trip out of town too. I like its zippiness, I have a hard time keeping it below 80mph on the highway, (That just seems to be a comfortable speed for it; works for me!!!)

  • Love my Civic - 2007 Honda Civic

We just downsized from a SUV to the Civic EX. We started looking at vehicles about 4 months ago, giving ourselves time to make sure we were making the right decision. Because of the Honda reputation, we started there. We drove almost every car in the Civic category and kept coming back to it. We were mostly focusing on gas mileage, as I drive approximately 75 miles per day, back and forth to work. The Civic is dependable and fun to drive, I love whipping into parking spaces, and hugging corners! We also have 2 children, 9 and 5. They have plenty of leg and hip room, and love riding in our new car! The EX is nicely equipped and still affordable. We are very pleased with our decision!
