Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Love it!! - 2005 Honda Civic

Bought this car because I wanted something sporty but with a useable hatchback/cargo area. Gotta tell you for a small car, the cargo area is surprisingly large. Love the midrange acceleration and the way the car hugs the curves. Friends are impressed with the sporty appearance--havent gotten one comment about the mini minivan look. Would buy this car again in a heart beat!!

This little car is fun to drive, even when trying to maximize gas mileage. You can easily get 40 MPG if you drive with a little skill and control. If you drive the way the government does when testing gas mileage (50 miles per hour on a flat road with no wind) you can get 50 MPG.

This honda is my first car, Im a 20 year old college student. I couldnt decide between a civic or a corolla. I test drove both and decided that the honda was the better choice for me. Im in love with it! Its beautiful inside and out. I have it in the new color for 2004 (magnesium metallic) and the interior cloth is gray. It rides nices, the sound system is decent, everything about it is perfect for me! We shopped around on the internet and used the TMV price to settle on 15,200. The dealer we bought from was great, but the dealer we test drove from tried to sell us an $800 package that was unecessary. Dont fall for an extra fees!

We bought our new civic after researching all Sedans on Edmunds. With the pricing provided we were able to get it at invoice with 2.9% financing.

  • Fun to drive if SHE could steer it! - 2004 Honda Civic

At 511 the steering wheel and controls too far away from the driver. It is an uncomfortable and destracting reach to change the radio, heat, air and so on. Female member of home will not drive the car due to this.

This is the most well balanced vehicle on the market for Performance/Econ. Stomp on it and ride the red line this car feels like a mini formula 1 but on the other hand I drove this car from Pagosa Springs CO. to Payson AZ driving 70mph in 6th gear on 1 tank of gas and got 41 mpg yes I said 41 mpg. Honda Engineers should me awarded for this one. For the ones who dont like to ride the red line dont buy this car get the civic ex (have one of those two) the extra power isnt usable until 6800 rpms. This is a fun fun ride that Honda really did their homework on. Thanks Honda for making this Civic SI.

  • How to deal with High Gas Prices - 1996 Honda Civic
    By -

I bought the car in 8/2001. All the servicing I have had done are oil changes and changing the radiator fluid. I use the cheapest gas I can find. It gets 40+ highway miles to the gallon. How can I complain? Its probably one of the smartest purchases Ive made in a long time.

  • Original Owner Stills Drives Car in 2017! - 1996 Honda Civic

This is the best car Ive ever owned and first Honda! Bought it on a whim in 1996 and still own it today. The only mechanical work Ive had done is general maintenance. The radiator and transmission both lasted over 200K miles. wow! I have about 240K miles on it now and expect to drive it another 240K at least. Just keep up with regular maintenance and it will pay you back many times over. Great fuel efficiency too. Gets 35 mpg in town and has gotten well over 40 mpg highway. Ive driven this car in high elevations, coastal areas, snow, rain, you name it. Its always held its own with traction. Never gotten stuck. Great little car. If I could say one thing that I dont like about this car is that the front seats are very uncomfortable on road trips.

  • No relief from the heat - 2007 Honda Civic

Since purchasing the Civic, weve experienced our share of problems. First, bolts were missing from the lower air dam underneath the front bumper. Weather stripping coming off the rear passenger side window and the air conditioning falls short. At a dead stop in traffic the a/c shuts down and starts blowing hot air. During accelerations it also shuts down and blows hot air. Very uncomfortable to say the least. We had to tint the windows just to stay cool. Honda says it a new design to regulate the power on the engine. If we would have known, we never would have bought it. Funny, my 06 Acura TL (Honda product) never did that.
