Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • IT JUST WONT DIE - 1992 Honda Civic
    By -

i had a civic 1992 cx , so far its the first and best car i have had. for a first car i was really killing it. didnt do an oil change in 6 or 9 months, i was driving without oil sometimes , even brought it to 190kmph WITHOUT OIL... i was young :) and freaking nuts. :( ... after all i did to it , it rarly died on me. and when it did it was an old part that did its time (clutch at 180k, radiator at 177k brakes,) thats it the only reason i sold it is cuz it was rusted like hell. and clutch died cuz i was teaching my friends to drive standard and they were killing it) VERY RELIABLE CAR ! and the body holds together more than the new cardboard civics.

  • 2009 Civic - Should Have Bought the EX-L - 2009 Honda Civic
    By -

Bought it one month ago, and its everything I was looking for in a new car. Great handling and fun to drive. Ultra cold air conditioning, very quiet engine, smoooooth transmission, excellent turning, aesthetically pleasing interior, stops on a dime. After purchasing the car, made the mistake of driving a friends 2009 Civic EX-L. Although my cloth seats are very comfortable, the leather seats are even more comfortable, and they dress up the cars interior quite nicely. For the few extra dollars, would go for the EX-L if I could do it all over again.

  • Dont hesitate for a moment! - 2008 Honda Civic

This is my 3rd Civic and by leaps and bounds the best. I cross shopped the Prius and GTI and found the formers too soft handling and the latters prem fuel thirst and economy off-putting. Id vowed never to get WORSE mileage than my 02 Civic but wanted heated seats, XM and a more planted, composed and quiet ride, in a hatch if possible. The last wasnt to be but on all other counts, the Civic was the best choice out there. It is vastly more quiet than the previous gen. and feels almost as planted as a Euro car. Mileage is 30+ after 1500mi and should improve. I think this is an ideal commuter car with enough creature comforts and fit/finish to compete with cars far more expensive.

  • Basic economic "sport" coupe - 2002 Honda Civic

This car is great for everyday driving. It gets great gas milage and is even a little fun to drive. It is a very reliable car and is put together very well. Interior design could use a little help as far as functionability. The radio/CD player is mounted far too high and angled upward. This is bad for anyone under 6 4" tall. On sunny days you cant even read the display without leaning forward and craning your head up and looking down on it. This is of course not good when driving down the road. I knocked the rating on Interior Design hard for this because in this day and age, the stereo is a highly used item in everyones vehicle.

  • Great fuel economy car - 1992 Honda Civic

Great fuel efficient and reliable car, am buying a 91 crx now. Car usually got around 36-38mpg and stick shift makes it fun to drive. Very easy to work on and easy to find parts for even for an import. Usual tune up parts was all that needed fixing. I would definitely recommed.

  • Great around-town Car - 1997 Honda Civic

Ive had this car since it was brand new, and I still love it! Ive never had a major problem with it - totally reliable, although Honda had to replace the alternator, moonroof motor, and one headlight at various times early in life (ALL done under warranty, and on routine visits, not after any serious failures). Honda service is wonderful, if pricey - if having your car start every morning is worth your money, Honda is the way to go.

This is my go to work vehicle and I plan on holding on to this bad boy for as long as I can. I enjoy the low maintenance and my wife calls it a "babe magnet", but I tell her that its not the car that attracts the babes. ha.

This car is the most fun to drive! Handles excellent, stops on a dime! Gets out of the gate first even next to an expensive sports car. Love it.
