Overview & Reviews
Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.
The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

Terrific Car, But Too Much Plastic - 2003 Honda Civic
By Howard R - May 20 - 10:00 amI have my Civic one month now.As always Honda reliability is number one. Only one complaint. Interior has too much plastic finish and as a result, I have a rattle somewhere under the dash near the steering column. For such a beautiful car, what an irritation. The car performs well and the ride is very smooth. Gas mileage is great. This is my fourth Honda and I wouldnt drive anything else.

Exceeds Expectations - 2006 Honda Civic
By Ron - May 19 - 2:13 pmI have only had this car for a week and have less than 200 miles on the odometer. Currently the car is delivering 43 mpg, slightly better than I expected for a vehicle that is not broken in. The construction appears to be very solid and this is the quietest car that I have ever owned and Ive owned a lot of cars from the top of the line to junkers. The car hanles very well although the suspension is a little stiff for a non-performance auto. I am 62" tall and have more than enough room to be comfortable. The auto engine shutdown takes a little getting used to but overall its unobtrusive. So far, I am very pleased with this purchase.

Fantastic - exceeds expectations - 2006 Honda Civic
By sketcher - May 18 - 10:06 amBeen a Honda owner in the past (kept both for over 7 years), so expected quality. But did not expect how much I love the car - inside and out. The dash is not only fun, but user friendly, simple and elegant. A whole lot of fun to see real-time mpg. The only adjustment Ive had to make is not being able to see the front of the car (for parking) and the headrest - but Ive gotten used to both. The regenerative brakes and electric assist on the steering Ive come to really, really like. Handling is great. The engine shut-down at lights worried me that when it started up again, there would be some sort of jolt or noise - its nearly seamless. The best part is I drive more safely.

1994 EX Sedan - 1994 Honda Civic
By MSisson - May 18 - 2:00 amWe bought our EX sedan new in July of 1994 and it has been extremely reliable, easy on gas and, generally, a very positive experience to own. The engine and drivetrain have performed flawlessly. The fit and finish are first rate. Our only minor complaints are: cheap, flimsy cupholders overly large rear door pillars that restrict rearview visability and less than exceptional torque and power. The car currently has 95K and I expect it will readily get 200K or more with minimal investment in replacement parts and service. All and all a very efficient little sedan thats a little boring to drive, but always gets you where you are going.

Theft - 1995 Honda Civic
By shanzon10 - May 18 - 2:00 amThis was a great car for me, loved every mile I drove in it. Reccomendation for new buyers: Make sure to spend at least $150plus on a good alarm system. Mine is now in the junkyard because I failed to do so. Otherwise this is a great car, and good looking as well.

SUV owner converted - 2005 Honda Civic
By chillinnsatx - May 16 - 8:53 amIve always driven large trucks and SUVs, but recent gas prices got me to reconsider a more efficient car. The Honda Civic has great crash test ratings, great resale values, great "low true cost of ownership", great gas mileage, a huge trunk, comfortable ride. For a 4 cylinder compact, it gets me up & going on the freeway just fine, and friends fit great in the back seat. Its not going to pull a boat or anything, but I think its a vehicle Im going to have for a long time. I really cant see the logic of spending more on a car unless youre just really trying to impress the neighbors with an emblem, b/c this is an awesome car for the price.

I am VERY DISAPPOINTED - 1997 Honda Civic
By Lisa1536 - May 14 - 2:00 amI purchased the Honda anomaly. I am shocked at what is happening to my CVT transmission. It is going out on my 6- year-old car with 78,000 miles. I bought a Honda to avoid problems like this, but unfortunately things are not going like I thought they would. Except for window regulators, I have had no problem with this car, except this $4500 one. I know this is unusual, but understand, it does happen.

My Honda Civic EX - 2003 Honda Civic
By Spikeyhairboy12 - May 13 - 10:00 amMy Honda Civic is the best car I ever owned. In 1989, I bought a Honda Accord, and had it til 1999. It had 237 thousand miles on it, and was in perfect condition. My Civic will last me 12 years.
