Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Lovin It! - 2007 Honda Civic

Ok, I just got the little beast yesterday. I had a ball on the test drive and then had even more fun on my 48 mile commute. This transmission is smooth as glass and my roommate loved the exhaust tone when I rolled up to get something from him. Im considering actually teaching my girlfriend to drive stick with this car. The easy clutch and short throw of the shifter will make her life easier.

I have been driving my civic for close to four years now and have had very little problems with it. It has been the best car I have ever owned. Even though it is the base model it still gets looks when i drive it around town. I plan to keep me civic for a few more years to come.

I get between 48 and 51 MPG. This car has been smartly engineered.

Great car! Great styling, fun to drive, practical and reliable.

  • A lot of car for the money - 2003 Honda Civic

Its a better car than many journalists have suggested. It isnt quite as quick as some of its competition, but thats mostly do to an overly conservative rev limiter that forces the use of third gear to get to 60. What reviewers havent mentioned enough is that this car exudes quality. It is very well made. Sure, its funky looking, but very functional, and still fun. Engine is strong and smooth. The car does everything well. 6 footers can sit in the back seat. Very good crash test scores. Can be had for very good prices.

The only concern I had before buying my Hybrid was the horsepower. But needless to say I have no complaints, I am able to get on the freeway & keep up with traffic with no problem. Since Ive only had my Civic for a few weeks & have only filled up once my mileage was 38.6 mpg. I think once I break the car in that will go up. I constantly catch other drivers staring at the car, perhaps with jealousy!!

  • Almost 3 years, still beats the Corolla! - 2006 Honda Civic

My parents bought the 06 Civic for my sister in 05. From my driving experience, the car handles way better than my 07 Camry. What catches my attention the most is the low fuel consumption. My sister now lives in San Diego and she gets some pretty darn good MPGs when driving back to LA (averaging 35 MPG highway). The Civic may not be the speedy type (hence if you do want speed, check out the sporty Si), but getting from point A to a far away point B, it gets the job done saving you lots of money while you laugh at all the other gas guzzling SUVs.

  • The title should go here - 1995 Honda Civic

Well... its been a few years since I bought my Civic. It has never left me stranded and if I didnt drive like a maniac woman, then it would probably be in better condition! What can I say its a Honda, its not going to die, unless you beat it to death, and even then it still wont die. I too have noticed the rough tranny shift in the autos. Thinking about swapping out the engine and transmission soon because I need more power! Not sure, might just buy a new car.

I paid $16,840 plus tax, a good deal with 4.5 % financing/3-yrs. Peppy car with 140 hp, smooth shifting, great service hours at Honda dealership, car has great looks! Rides quieter than reviews suggested. Trunk spacious. Hybrid model does not allow rear seat fold down.

  • Bippy is the best!! - 1997 Honda Civic

I got my Bippy four years ago and absolutely love it! I have driven it cross-country many times and have never had a problem going anywhere. The gas mileage is great, and it runs just as well today as it did when I bought it used four years ago.
