Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • I Hesitate to Ask - 2008 Honda Civic

I love my new Civic Hybrid. Traded in my 05 Accord Hybrid which averaged 29 mixed. I now get up to 47 mpg in the civic. My one concern is that sometimes from a dead stop (and I do mean "dead" stop) the car will buck and hesitate as I accelerate. If I let off the gas it will stop and not present a problem. I am guessing that its the transmission trying to figure out a synchromesh gear to move into. Hope someone has some thoughts. Cheers. DWC

  • The Car to Buy!!! - 2006 Honda Civic

First time Honda owner. The car is excellent and well worth the money. The redesign is superb. Handles excellently and a very quiet ride. I will never buy anything but a honda again. Very easy to see why it is Motor Trend Car of the Year for 2006.

In a years time and lots of highway travel, we have enjoyed our experience. However, a few things that buyers should know. One is the brake pads. We had to replace them at the 20k mile mark and recently I over heard an Accord owner discussing with a service manager their replacement also at 20k miles. Ive owned numerous makes and models. Ford brake pads lasted longer than this. And I drove that car harder and under more harsh conditions. The other complaint is road noise and handling. Its highway road noise shouldnt be over looked as well as its ability to handle like it should. Freeway ramps (clover-leaf style) you will have to slow down as others dont.

  • Love My Car - 1999 Honda Civic

I have thoroughly enjoyed my Civic and, for the price, have found it one of the best cars I have ever owned. Ive had to watch my speed at times on the highway, though, because it will easily cruise at 80 mph. It has always been reliable and economical, requiring only its routine scheduled maintenance and oil changes. I would recommend this for anyone who wants to have a fun drive, get good gas mileage, and not worry about breakdowns or high-cost maintenance.

  • Im a believer - 2002 Honda Civic

Having driven a Ford Mustang for the past 2-3 years I really wasnt ready to downgrade. When I bought my Civic I thought it was just the sensible thing to do. Now Im wondering why I didnt do it long ago. I love driving it and I love the way the interior is organized. Its a completely enjoyable experience to drive it everyday and, as it turns out, a total UPGRADE!!! Did I mention that I went from 19mpg to 36mpg?

  • Very good economical car. - 2002 Honda Civic

I have put over 10000 miles on this car now and I love it. It sure isnt a sports car but I cant complain about getting ~34-35 mpg...in the summer with my a/c cranking. I have to admit that the air conditioning system is a little weak but it is pretty decent for the size car. After school I plan on upgrading to a bigger car but this is good for now.

What a fabulous car...Ive had it for 7 months now, and it has been just amazing. I enjoy the manual steering it gives me a good feeling of the road. The car performs amazingly. I gave this car an update in the form of an engine swap with a 93 DX engine, so I have 102HP instead of a small 70HP. Gas mileage is just amazing...I get 42MPG with the engine paired with a 4 Speed Manual Tranny. The paint has held up well. Unfortunately there is no a/c, well what can I expect for paying $4000CDN (about 2300USD at the time) All around an amazing little car

i bought a civic hybrid a couple months ago. the car is great and incredibly comfortable for a compact. although the car is in great need of more power it is great. i would say the only flaw of this car is the 95hp it has under the hood. I hope to purchase an accord hybrid soon.

Love the Car. I bought it in decmber and have never been more happy with a car in my life. It is very quiet and very fuel efficent. Just be careful if you tend to be a lead foot the advantages of the hybrid dissapiear quick! Remember that the car is ususaly more efficent if you use the cruise as much as possable.
