Overview & Reviews
Honda deletes the Civic EX Coupe five-speed with ABS model. DX models receive new wheel covers, all 1997 Honda Civic trims get 14-inch wheels, and the LX Sedan gets air conditioning.
- Fun, affordable, and good looking.
- Why are anti-lock brakes only offered on models with an automatic transmission?

175,000 and running - 1997 Honda Civic
By 3-69 - July 22 - 2:00 amI have put this civic through hell and back. From florida to virginia back down and across the states to california! All while touching the redline at least once daily. Not a single fault till i tripped over 170,000, when i got a new engine ... all my fault(extreme driving). This car is definitely reliable.

Great car - 1997 Honda Civic
By puffy999 - July 18 - 2:00 amThe car is great. It handles well, goes as fast as I need it to go, and is great on gas. Has not had one problem since I purchased the car. There is only one difficulty Ive found. It does not want to go into reverse very easily with a 5-speed manual transmission. It sometimes takes a bit of work, especially on a slight hill. Also, if you are putting in an aftermarket stereo system with subwoofers, make sure you take a day off to do it. It takes awhile to take the entire interior of the car apart. Remember to connect a couple wires in the stereo plug if you want to use the dome light!

Great car Great value - 1997 Honda Civic
By Frost - June 17 - 2:00 amAn overall great car. It is somewhat expensive for a compact car, but it makes up for it with reliability.

Keeps on ticking - 1997 Honda Civic
By moz52 - June 4 - 2:00 amI bought this car used, with about 30,000 miles on it, and now it has over 120,000. I have done nothing but regular tune ups, new tires, and oil changes. Although I would love to have something a little more sporty, I will most likely purchase a new Civic sometime this year. You just cant beat the reliability.

An excellent automobile, but not perfect - 1997 Honda Civic
By Joseph Kotran - January 22 - 2:00 amHonda Civics are often well reviewed by the automotive media and consumers. I think that the praise is deserved, but somewhat exaggerated. I have owned my 97 Civic LX for five years now. I am happy with it, I have had no mechanical problems, and I still like the way it looks. However, I think that the Civic is very much lacking in comfort. My chief complaint regards excessive cabin noise. The engine and road noise are far too loud for long distance trips. Even a short commute to work can frustrate as I often have to play radio at a loud volume to drown out the noise.

97 honda civic - 1997 Honda Civic
By civic_racer - January 27 - 10:00 amI purchased this car from a family member and it was well taken care of. Fun to drive and "cruise" in. A good car for long trips or short drives. Extremely dependable. However, it needs to be because it is expensive to bring to a shop. Easy to modify and parts are everywhere. LOVE THE MOONROOF!

Honda Civic LX - 1997 Honda Civic
By CivicDriver - February 8 - 10:00 amI think this car is a good deal because of its low price. The engine is very rev happy and seems to ask for more. The gas mileage is wonderful. The car is well built and you know when you wake up in the morning the car will be waiting for you to start it up. The car is some what rommy and can fit 4 people nicely when there is 5 people it gets a little crowded. Another thing that could be better would be the accleration because you will need that extra pick up to merge on to the freeways. Besides that this is a great car and I have learned to love this little car.
