Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Hybird reality - 2004 Honda Civic

The Honda civic hybrid fule fact for my civic is city and highway combined 37mpg. I have driven the car less than 200 miles and probably very close to 50- 50 city vrs. highway miles. It takes a bit of getting use to the hybird technology as the car shuts down at most stops. The Civic is remarkably quiet. also it has a great standard packsage, A.C., cruse control, CD am fm sterio. Some folks may like the lighted dash information stystem that includes a tac, odomitor, battery status and other things. I find it a bit distracting with all the flashing and moving lights. It is a great car for those that have concerned about consumption and enviormental issues.

This is an exceptional automobile. Honda has always been a dependable car. It has great handling and lots of take off power for a four cylinder car. 50000 miles and still not a problem with it at all. remember routine maintaince is important to a long live of the honda.

My ratings are based on comparing the Civic to other vehicles in its price range and this car really has the competition beat. Voice nav, play any digital media through aux, plenty of torque to get around LA traffic, no parking spot is too small and I get 28 mpg even though Im always punching the gas. My previous car was a 98 BMW 540i with lots of power and surprisingly this car speeds up well considering its engine size. Combine all that with low maintenance costs ($40 for oil change, no prob) and a great warranty and this car leaves Nissan, Toyota and Mini in the dust.

For the price its a great deal. the EX doesnt come with nav, but thats a good thing. Android Auto/Apple Car Play are great features, all cars should have them.

  • great gas mileage - 1998 Honda Civic

I have owned my 98 civic hx since I purchased in in 98 and just love it. I was surprised by the peppy motor when I test drove it and am still surprised by the power it has. I enjoy getting 38 MPG in the city and even more on the freeway. I have had no reliability issues, nothing outside of routine maintenance. What do you expect from Honda. I recommend buying a civic if you are in the market.

Do your research, but most car talking heads do agree: this is one fine vehicle that is reasonably priced.

My daily driver accumulated a quarter million miles (a 95 Jeep Cherokee Sport) and I needed another vehicle for 3-4 years to commute with great mileage. Though I only have now driven the Civic 1800 miles, the things that are most impressive are: 40 mpg @ 65 mph hwy mileage is not only the EPA estimate but right on the money. Handling is better than expected. Comfort was good on my recent 8 hour freeway drive. Standard radio/speaker was adequate. I havent tried the standard CD player. Quite frankly, I wanted a vehicle to get great mileage and emulate an S40 Volvo w/sunroof. I drove an S40 and loved it. The Civic EX is better in many ways. So far, this is a great low end vehicle.

  • Such a good car but still needs refining - 2002 Honda Civic

This is a great (economy) car! The gas mileage is an obvious plus, engine power is adequate, brakes are excellent, steering is tight and the handling is nimble. What things needs improvement? Interior fit and finish is marginal is some areas (instrument cluster looks cheap, and some plastics dont fit very tightly). Secondly, the automatic transmission (should have gotten a manual...) is horrible! Its shifts are way too slow for this type of car. It resembles that of an old grandpas car than a sporty economy car. Overall however I am very satisfied with my purchase!

  • Your Basic Car - 1994 Honda Civic

Heres just about everything you need in a car, literally speaking. Not particularly powerful, and quite noisy at speeds, the little Civic will take you more or less wherever you want to go, and it wont exact a huge price on your bank account. The car is tolerable, and fulfills all its promises. Its kinda fun to drive, in a slow, homey kind of way. Theres not much going on under the hood, but this car will never break. If you want to get from Point A to Point B, youre all over the Honda Civic DX.

I bought my Civic EX brand new in 97 and I still love it. Its about time to move on to something with a bit more comfort - been trying and make it to the Acura dealership to look but somehow I just dont want to part with my Honda. It has given me almost no problems in 6 years (drivers side window got stuck once about 3 years ago replaced the alternator 2 years ago) - otherwise its been a very reliable car. Love the exterior styling and the interior layout. The 5- speed is fun to drive except in stop & go traffic - next car will definitely be an automatic for this reason only!
