Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Awesome little car - 1995 Honda Civic
    By -

I bought this car used from an original owner, and I am glad that he took care of it. My only gripe is that the car rattled a bit all over the place. But I soon fixed that.I have done a few mods, and it sounds great. It is a little slow, but I am planning on a turbo charger to make me faster than the mustang gt (my goal) The engine is of good quality, and can take a lot of abuse. Also, with tinted windows, a carbon fiber hood, 1 1/2 drop, and 17" rims, this car turns a lot of heads. :0)

  • Not as good as a Corolla - 2007 Honda Civic
    By -

I bought this car to replace my previous European built Corolla sedan, which had given me 5 years trouble free comfortable ownership. The Honda Civic must be the most uncomfortable car I have ever bought, or driven. Its too low, has extremely hard unforgiving seats, the stupid handbrake which digs into my leg and makes any journey over half an hour very painfull (literally). The "A" pillar is too thick, and interferes with a clear view of pedestrians trying to cross the road in front of me at junctions. The front passenger footwell is too short, forcing the passenger has to push the seat right back to get comfortable, consequently there is no room for anybody to sit behind!

  • Peppy sedan at 190k miles - 1991 Honda Civic
    By -

Beloved wife and I have owned our 1991 white Civic "Pegasus" since 1992. Along the way we have had trouble with CV boots, the heater blower and resistor switch, the rear driver side door latch. In the past 4 years we have spent $4000 on repairs to go about 50,000 miles. Not bad. At this point, with 190,000 miles, it isnt 100% reliable, but it is still a zippy little car and very fun to drive. Wish it had a clock and cup holders. We bought a 1996 Accord yesterday to replace it, but we will probably keep it around a while just for old times sake.

  • Honda Happiness - 2015 Honda Civic
    By -

Im very satisfied with the purchase of my 2015 Honda Civic. It is a stylish looking small car which has excellent fuel economy and handles very well. Ive only had the vehicle about a month, but I know that Honda has a reputation for dependability and reliable service. As a result, I have peace of mind knowing that if my Civic ever does need repair or maintenance, I have qualified representatives available to assist me. I look forward to many years of pleasurable driving.

  • Extended Warranty - 2008 Honda Civic
    By -

Just wondering if anyone else bought the extended warranty on this vehicle-- after receiving the hard copy of this document it seems to not match what I was told it would cover--also the efforts on my part to meet the qualifications seem to be a second job on my part. I would like to hear from other Honda owners. Thanks.

  • Not for cold weather - 2016 Honda Civic

If you live somewhere with a warm climate this is a great car. In cold temperatures the motor does not heat up the way it should, leaving you to drive in a cold car all the time.

  • Repeat Honda Owner - 2004 Honda Civic
    By -

I am a repeat Civic owner, having had a 89 CRX, 92 Acura Integra LS, 95 Civic Coupe EX. Seven trouble free years later needed a new car. I was blown away with the improvements in the Civic. I test drove the Accord Coupe to move upmarket. However I didnt feel there is a big exists anymore. I found the Civic had the best combination of sportiness, clean design, and comfort and most important value in this segment.

  • Front-end gremlins ruined a great car - 2001 Honda Civic
    By -

This was my third Civic. Had some quality problems when new - sticking map light, weak cassette player wouldnt play tapes. Apart from that, it was great - fun to drive, great mileage. At 40,000, front end starts making noise. 2001 Civics are plagued with front suspension problems. New tires, alignment, no better. Noise got worse, warranty was up, had to get rid of it. Bought a Saturn Ion. Shape up, Honda, or more people will leave.
