Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

Smooth Ride - 2003 Honda Civic
By scolob - November 11 - 10:00 amHaving just bought my Civic, Im still learning things about it. But in the 2 weeks Ive had the car, here are my impressions. This car is so sporty looking. By getting rid of the panel most cars have, it makes the car appear sleaker. The instrument panel rocks. The brightness is astounding. It has zip. It accelerates nicely up hills and on freeway onramps. The interior cloth, still has that entry-level import look to it, but is tons better than in years past. The 6 speaker CD stereo has great sound. The trunk holds plenty of cargo. A very comfortable back seat with, get this, a flat floor.

My 2nd Civic - 2005 Honda Civic
By dalesws6 - November 11 - 3:13 amI love the car. When Honda called doing a survey after I purchased it they asked what influenced me buying my car more than anything else. My answer was my last civic, it is a 1990 model with 331,000 miles on the original drive train and I still use it as my daily driver. The only complaint I have with the new car is that the driver side door pull should of been angled up more toward the window (as is the passenger side pull) as it interferes with side leg room by as much as 3 1/2 inches compared to the older civic and the lack of being able to spread your legs is quite noticeable. In my opinion if its a Honda you cant go wrong, best car I have ever owned and the only one I considered buying.

Good Commuter Car - 2006 Honda Civic
By Mike1900 - November 11 - 1:16 amCar is a great commuter car. Comfy and good steering feel. I drive 50% Highway/City. Ive owned the car for 3 months now and I have 2 complaints. Im only averaging 27.0 mpg driving normally. Trying to be as light footed as possible, I managed 29.8mpg. Driving agressively gets me 25mpg. I took it to the dealer and they insist its my driving. Nothing wrong with the alignment. The other problem is the really cheap sun visor. When I move it to the side to block the sun. It feels really cheap and when I turn left slightly faster than normal, it swings around and knocks me in the head. This has happened to me over 6 times and now I have to use my left hand to hold it when I turn

Most car for the money - 2009 Honda Civic
By sflpilot - November 10 - 9:03 amThis is my third Honda, and all have been amazingly reliable. Not all of them have been fun to drive, however. My new Si takes the fun level off the scale compared to most other Hondas. Are there faster cars? Yes. Are there better handling cars? Yes. Can you get any of these other cars for under $19,200? No chance. The closest car that I found would have been almost $6000 more than the Civic. Its an amazing car for the money. Be careful when reading other reviews, as most of the people driving the Civic Si are younger drivers. The one reviewer complaining about a vibration in the brakes is describing the activation of the ABS system. Without it he would have been in a skid.

The Honda Civic Si is a great car - 2008 Honda Civic
By tiff_c - November 9 - 12:16 pmInitially I looked at a lot of cars. This one was at the bottom of my list. I compared it to the Mazda Speed 3 and a Subaru WRX. The engine revs very smoothly in this car but the power when it reached 6,000 rpms is really amazing. The shifter on the Si is buttery smooth. It drives very well even in the snow. I put Nokian tires on it for winter and it goes just great in snow. My wife really likes driving this car so with all that we bought it.

I decided to change from the 5 speed manual back to an automatic and bought the Civic because it was inexpensive and cute, cute, cute!! It surprised me at how quick it is. I was going from an Accord 5 speed with 150 horsepower to the Civic automatic with 106 horsepower. But this little car will scoot! Excellent value for the price.

Its a good car but..... - 1998 Honda Civic
By Legna - November 7 - 10:00 amI miss my Volvo and my VW GLX- VR6every day I have to drive this Car. Although very reliable, and I appreciate the improved gas mileage from my previous cars....Its boring, too light (I get blown into the next lane on windy days), the a/c cant keep up w/ the humidity in Chicago, overall quality is too cheap, the handling is poor (I hate the jerk of the transmission from taking off from a stop and the horrible control when you go over 70 mph--good tires do help some). Liven it up guys....theres nothing fun about drivng this car, Im thrilled I have a luxury car to drive every other day when Im not commuting an abusurd distance to work every day.
