Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  I love this car... i average 42 mpg on the highwayand 35 around town. very well thought out car, no worries about breaking down. reliability at its best!

  Poor Build Quality of 01 Civic - 2001 Honda Civic

  I was very disappointed with the EX 2001 Civic model. Since Ive owned the car Ive had soo many quirky things go wrong on the car. My window motor doesnt work properly, the consol light is tempermental. Recently my trunk and gas tank release lever decided to not work anymore. Forget about the paint, just brush against the car and it will chip. Also, not long after I purchased the car, I noticed rust spots on the hood of my car.

  Have had the car for less than a month but, I am impressed with its acceleration & responsivness. Car holds the road very well. Electronics are nice but not spectacular,(everything works fine but I am not crazy about the volume control for the radio), other than that, I am very happy with its performance & looks.

  So Much Fun - 2008 Honda Civic

  As a recent college grad, this was my first new car purchase. I spent months (literally) trying to find a something fun/practical/economical/sporty/stylish /etc. all wrapped into one. Before, I drove a 95 Mazda Millenia which was great. My first Honda experience has been amazing so far. I was warned the Si was a true sports car. This is not a lie. Gears 2 through 5 really have some power, especially in the higher RPMs (redlines at 8000). With a little time, the clutch is fairly user friendly. Navigation system is easy to use and the sound system is better than advertised (built in sub really kicks hard). I bought this car to have some fun and so far Honda has delivered.

  I had A 2003 Civic Hybrid, that got wrecked. I looked At other Hybrids, however I decided to go back with a Civic even though I had a pretty good wait to get one , had to order from Japan. It was worth the wait.

  this one is a keeper! I dont intend to give this one up or let my kids drive it. I can see myself loving it until one of us dies. I named it Myles, as I feel as though I have a personal relationship with "him".

  Just with very minimum maintenence (oil changes), this car has lasted me 12 years and going strong at 160K miles. I have a Mercedes, BMW, and Hyndai. But Honda Civic is the best value Period.
