Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Style nice, reliability questionable - 2008 Honda Civic
    By -

At 57,000 miles, overall the car has been ok, but, I have had both rear wheel bearings and the rear control arms replaced. This was due to a factory problem which caused a rear tire to severely cup. All OEM tires were replaced at 45,000. The past 10,000 miles the transmission is making strange clinking noises when accelerating from a stop. A low roar has developed in the exhaust system. The car handles well but road noise is still a problem. Comfort isnt too bad but the emergency brake handle needs to be relocated. Overall I like the car but I will be trading in for a new Accord as I no longer need a commuter car.

  • Great Upgrade from 2015 Civic - 2016 Honda Civic
    By -

I traded in my 2015 Civic coupe for the 2016 sedan. I had tested the Civic EX-L, 2016 Accord Sport, 2016 Toyota Prius, and the 2016 RAV4 Hybrid. I must say I made a great choice going with the Civic. The Accords driving dynamic didnt feel right. The Prius had some funky styling and very comfy seats but was just too slow to get to highway speeds. The RAV4 Hybrid was a great vehicle, I may have choose it over the Civic if the dealership hadnt treated me poorly. The Civic has everything that I was needing in my next car. A sleek look, 4 doors to allow adults to fit into the back seats, a spacious trunk, a lot of tech, heated seats, and great fuel economy with a turbo! The car handles very well around corners. I get a smile on my face every time I drive this car. My only complaint is like other owners have said, the bluetooth connection is terrible. It cuts out frequently but that is overcome by plugging my iPhone in by USB, so not a major problem. Otherwise, this car is a big win for Honda!

  • The Civic EX has got it all - 2007 Honda Civic
    By -

Ive owned this car for a very exciting 17 hours now! Looks awesome, very smooth and quiet ride (engine revs pretty low even on highways), very comfortable interior, very handy steering wheel audio controls (for audiophiles like me), great Premium sound system w/ sub, XM is great to have, havent tried nav yet, havent tried sunroof yet. Definitely could use more hp, but this is an economy car so thats ok. Great overall ride and comfort, very good value for your money. Perfect car for high school/college kids or an entry level working man like me! I definitely think this car has got it all. If youre car-shopping with about $18000 to $22000 to spend, you must check this car out.

  • 2007 Si. My best purchase - 2007 Honda Civic
    By -

I was looking for a car and happened to find the si. I have driven the older models and loved them, when I first got in the drivers seat of this car I felt like I was in a Jet ready to take off. I love the feel of the car. It sounds great, has great turning and can get up and go. You get a lot of looks in this car. This car is pretty fast if you need it to. The 8200 redline is a feature I really enjoy. When in 2nd gear and you hit the 6000 rpm the Vtec kicks in, and puts you into your seat. I cant help myself but smile every time. This Si is truly one awesome care and a GREAT purchase. I love the in car features as well. makes driving fun and comfortable.

  • Cant get mileage up! - 2007 Honda Civic
    By -

We drive half highway half in-town for a 10 mile commute and longer distance trips on the weekend. Over 20K miles and only getting 38 mpg with not much variation highway vs. city despite making sure tires well inflated. Cloth interior started wearing down six months into owning; get the leather now that its an option! GPS is only good for providing map of where you are en route but points of interest are impossible to navigate and she takes you on crazy trips sometimes (wasnt this way with older Honda GPS in accord). beautiful dash design and fun to drive. why are we getting such poor gas mileage?

  • Radio/CD Panel - 2007 Honda Civic
    By -

Traded in my 98 Camry for a 07 Civic for better gas mileage. So far I love my Civic and its fun to drive, especially past gas stations. Only concern I have is that lately the radio/CD panel tends to get hot to the touch, including the buttons to switch stations. When I pull out the CD, the CD is also hot. Not sure where heat transfer is coming from. Also have a rattle on right door panel that I cant seem to locate; sounds like a piece of plastic vibrating. Other than that I love driving the Civic and actually enjoy road trips.

  • Dont Understand Why All the Praise - 1998 Honda Civic
    By -

I dont have too many positive things to say about this car. I bought the car to get a reliable, high mileage, AT car. The car has always gotten low mileage (25/31) in mixed driving. Never higher than 32mpg in 100% Interstate travel. The trunklid is a guillotine despite the installation of a special spoiler-supporting trunklid torsion element. The exterior paint is eggshell fragile. Alternator was warranty replaced at 10K miles. The 92 Saturn SL I owned for 10yrs. was a better car than this one. We bought the Honda for its glowing reputation, and based on my experience, I have to wonder how it was ever acquired...

  • my new Honda - 2003 Honda Civic
    By -

I absolutly love my new Honda Civic. My last car was a 1988 Honda Accord Hatchback which lasted me more than 18 with NO repairs (tires, brakes, etc. not withstanding). Im sure I will get the same reliability and dependability with my new car. It looks beautiful with the spoiler and ground pkg. it has a very sporty look and feel and I get many compliments on it.

  • Civic Hybrid great car! - 2003 Honda Civic
    By -

Ive driven the car 10,800 miles in the roughly 90 days since purchasing. The controls are well designed, heating & air work very well. There is enough power to enter fast interstates with no problem. Pleased with the fit and finish. Fuel mileage listed is pretty accurate, but how one drives can make a significant difference. I like filling up less often!
