Overview & Reviews
Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.
The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

By Damaster - January 13 - 10:00 amThis is a great city economy car for just all around driving. It lacks the HP that it should have to keep up hondas reputation, this car probally has the slowest acceleration i have ever seen, this little 1.7 tries but dont get very far, lol. good car tho i reccomend not gettin the VP but gettin the HX for the extra HP

Initial Response - 2004 Honda Civic
By JohnG - January 13 - 10:00 amIve only had it 321 miles so far, but got 39.5 mpg on the first tank of gas. The car rides nicely and handles well. The build quality seems excellent. Working through Fleet/Internet Sales, I only paid $12,461 for the car and got 2.9% financing for 60 months. What a value!!! There were no hidden fees or dealer added on junk either.

Some good, some bad - 2002 Honda Civic
By scott_d - January 13 - 10:00 amIn the 13,000 miles that I have owned this car, it used an average of 1 quart of oil every 600 miles. In addition to the oil issue, there is an annoying clacking noise in the A- Pillar that Honda says is the moonroof drain tube hitting metal, but after 28 visits to the dealership to fix this and other issues, it remains. The emergency brake does not hold on hills and needs to be adjusted every 1000 miles. I have seen these same issues from others, so beware of them and ask about these issues if you are looking to buy one. I had great hopes for this car, my first new car purchase, and have been pretty dissapointed. It looks great on paper...

Not as well built - 2001 Honda Civic
By pcwizard - January 13 - 10:00 amI have had a few Hondas and now have 2. This 2001 Civic has more wind noise than any other. The doors dont fit as well as in the past so more wind noise is generated. The dealer has not been able to do anything in all the times Ive returned it.

The Seven Years Overview - 1994 Honda Civic
By Surly Luke - January 12 - 2:00 amBuild quality is better than my mothers 2003 Corolla, and the only problems ive had are some leaky gaskets and the front axles. The engine is unbreakable - im sure ive overrevved it more than a few times in its 244,000 km and it still pulls as well as it ever did if not better. Only flaw right now is that it has a bit of an erratic idle, but I think its a voltage issue. I have the DX engine (i checked the numbers on the motor - its the 102 hp variant) so it feels like a 9 sec car, and it will laughably dust V6 Camaros and mustangs.

Great First Car - 1997 Honda Civic
By mmgiardina - January 12 - 2:00 amThis is the first car I bought on my own. I have been really happy with it. The reliability is fantastic, nothing frustrates me more than bringing my car into the shop. When I have my second child Ill have to trade this one in, two kids and a Golden Retriever would not fit comfortably in the back seat. Hey, maybe Ill save it for when my kid can drive. Its got a lot of years left in it!

Going Green - 2008 Honda Civic
By gamecockrph - January 11 - 7:50 amEntering 3rd month of ownership and this car is delivering the mileage I hoped for. I commute 75 miles round trip and vs. the small SUV I traded in for this I am saving $30 plus weekly. It rides well, is plenty roomy and my worst tank was the first tank at 38.5 mpg. Best tankful 47 mpg. Love passing the gas stations.
