Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Disapointed with City Mileage - 2007 Honda Civic

Have only owned for 2000 miles or about 1.5 months. To date I would have to say the Civic Hybrid is great except for the lack of it obtaining its expected fuel mileage potential of 49 mpg in town. I have been averaging 28-32 MPG in town. I was told that mileage will increase after I pass 10,000 miles. I hope that to be true. Also, the braking is a little weak.

  • Good Car But Could Be Great If - 2008 Honda Civic

Goodies: great looks. Great mpg 36-38 hwy@70+mph 30 city. Great handling compared 2 corolla/sentra and other competitors. Highly sensitive steering-feels good. Enjoy driving. Instrument panel is different -l ike it very much. 5SP trans keeps rpm to minimum even @ high speeds. Bad Points: very poor sound insulation - high road noise. Cheap interior, scratchy plastic, lack of padding - rattling sounds. Poor brakes - may be due to 5 SP auto. Stiff suspension - uncomfortable. Exterior paint is very thin - scratches and flakes easily. Poor sounds - very bad with radio. Okay with CD/aux. An economical car.

this car is awesome to drive could use some more torque but for a 4cyl, 1.6 liter honda got the most you could which is pretty impressive for this engine! bought the car brand new and do not plan to sell anytime soon!!! :)

  • Best car I have ever had! - 2000 Honda Civic

I love this car. Have not had any problems in 75000 miles.I still have the same brakes on it. I get better gas milage than the sticker said, 43mpg.

I didnt fit in the Corolla. I am 61" and I fit in the Civic coupe. My right leg does rest against the hand brake, but I can live with that. MPG on combined driving has been 35.2 and on more highway driving has been 38.9 with only 1800 miles on the car! Handles great and plenty of power. Ride is a little stiff, but the car is so fun to drive. In 90 degree heat the air conditioning has been great.

This car has exceeded my expectations. I have a lengthy commute (100 miles a day) and needed a car with good gas mileage. Gas mileage has been holding at 48 mpg for mixture of interstate, highway and city miles. At 55 MPH on the relatively flat Florida roads I can get about 55ish MPG. The Civic Hybrid exceeded my expectations in two main areas. First, it accelerates a little better than I expected. Maybe it just feels like it to me, who knows. The next area I was impressed with still amazes me. There is an incredible amount of room in the front seat! Im 62" 230 lbs used to a full size pickup truck but this car has tons of head room, shoulder room and my seat isnt all the way back! Wow.

  • !!!!!AWESOME!!!!! - 1990 Honda Civic
    By -

I absolutely love this car. Anyone who complains about the 92bhp obviously either doesnt know how to shift correctly, or is using an auto tranny (ewwwwww). The handling in this car cannot be beat, and it is 13.5 years old! My dad bought this car july 1990 with 11 miles on it (probably a test drive and driving it onto the lot). Now it has 238,000+ miles, and almost no problems at all! around 180,000 miles, the exhaust had to be replaced due to rust, and at about 220,000 miles the tranny had to be rebuilt. Other than that, no problems. was given to me 6months ago for my 16th b-day.

  • Problems as soon as warranty expired ! - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

After doing my research I looked at several models of cars. Honda seemed to be the best rated. I needed a car I could trust to put a great amount of Highway miles on, since Im in sales. I explained this to the dealer when I purchased the car, they assured me this was the car for me. I started to experience brakes and rotor problems at 31,000 miles. I have had to replace the rotors and the pads. The car hit 60,200 miles and noises started to occur in the engine. I have since found out motor mounts need replaced and the warranty no longer good, Honda says itÂ’s not their problem. I end up paying the price for what I believe to be a Honda DEFECT,or is it just the way Honda builds their cars?

  • New may not be better - 2003 Honda Civic
    By -

Interior seats should be wider. Judging front and back for parking is terrible. I always find I am either too close or too far away. My 1992 was terrific, unfortunately I sold it - still with no problems in 2003 with 198,200 miles. It was also great on gas. I dont get as good gas mileage as I expected.

  • Simply The Best - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

This is the 5th Honda I have owned and so far the experience has been great. I dont really know what to say other than Honda just knows how to build good cars. I might add that this car is quite zippy with the new VTEC engine.
