Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • A Classic in Its Own Time - 2006 Honda Civic

This is a relatively luxurious car with almost the fuel economy of a subcompact. It has been problem free, and the build quality seems better than the `01 Civic it replaced. The extra width does add to the driving comfort. The headlights are better than the ones on a certain new GM car I recently drove. My big gripe is the poor visibility, due to the small windows and big posts. Hard to park it accurately. This car would be out of the question for someone very short. The inside of the windshield needs cleaning much more often than with any other car I have had. The drivers seat adjustments and the headrest position could be better. Not enough loudness for some MP3 players.

Second month driving new hybrid. Wanted to do my part in less fuel consumption and have had Hondas for years. Am really pleased thus far with all aspects. Fuel economy continues to improve with miles added. Not worried about resale but rest of my cars has sold well!

I am disappointed with the MPG. I am averaging 36.3 MPG which isnt far from its original non-hybrid. Honda claims its because I live in Florida and we use the AC year round and that lowers the MPG. Also, the AC doesnt work while the car is sitting idle.

I was looking for fuel economy but got a great looking, fun to drive and comfortable car along with the economy. Compared the Civic to the Corolla and Mazda 3 but while the Mazda was close, neither offered as a complete package as the Honda. Getting 48.6 miles to the gallon on the highway which makes todays high gas prices a lot easier to take.

I love my civic. i have had it for almost three years and now it has 100000mi. The gas mileage is still great, i still get 37-39 mpg with only some highway miles. i am starting to have a problem with my speed sensor but thats about it.

I bought this car because I was in need of a car that was good on gas mileage. I travel a average of 4,000 miles per month. This car does not requiring oil changes every 3,000 miles, but it requires them every 7,000, so I save a lot of money on basic upkeep. Most of the miles I drive are on the highway. I average around 43 mpg on highway. I would probably get more if I kept my foot out of the pedal. If you are looking for a mid priced vehicle that you want to get your money out of. this is it. Low cost on fuel and low cost on upkeep.

  • Great little car - 1994 Honda Civic

Great little car. Only one problem (clutch master cylinder) in 10 years of ownership. Very reliable. I have the antilock brake option (with 4 wheel disk) and I have yet to replace the original brakes after 107K miles. Could use better front seats and a bit more power under the hood though. Great mileage although has dropped 1-3 mpg the last year.

This is a great car for the price. Its sporty and fun to drive. If you have children or are going to be driving other people around you probably want to consider the 4 - door.
