Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Bad Seats Noisy Interior Balky Trans - 2007 Honda Civic

Dont buy. Unfindable cant-fix-it interior rattles & bumps and rough highway pavement. Balky starts from standstill - drivers new to car stall in traffic again and again. Seatbelt alarm makes punishing howl six times if one doesnt buckle up before starting car, so one must first open door with key, put down key down, buckle up, then pick up key and start car. Forget to do it and get punished by ugly noise. There is no sound insulation at all - hear every noise in wheel wells. Seat back mechanism to enter rear does not go back to position so seat backs must be readjusted each time. NO LUMBAR SUPPORT. Less than average directional stability. This car stinks.

  • 10,000 miles on a Hybrid - 2007 Honda Civic

Just turned 10,000 miles on our 2007 Civic Hybrid. After having for about 8 months now Ive grown to appreciate the car and what it offers. First, I find it comfortable and Im over 6 foot. The AC systems works well. Ride remains good, although there is some road noise. I find the engine peppy for what it is, and that is a gas saver. You want fast acceleration - buy a Corvette. This car will go easily with the pack. Recent 1,200 mile trip averaged 47+ and 48.11 on the way home. And I ran with traffic. Car likes to be on cruise control. About 60MPH is the best speed to max fuel economy. I keep tires pumped to 33PSI and I use 5w20 synthetic oil.

My Civic was the second car I ever bought, and it is really fun to drive, It isnt the fastest car out there, but it sure is not the slowest. I really enjoy my Civic, and am extremely glad that I bought it!

Dont be fooled, just because this is an entry level Honda, doesnt mean you dont get the most bang for your buck. Opt for the navi, summer tires and you wont be sorry. Like a mini luxury car with a hotrod engine.

This is my first Honda purchase. I was looking for good gas mileage & a fun car. The price was excellent and the gas mileage is even better. The 2006 Honda Civic EX 2 door coupe handles well and drives very good & smooth, the trunk space is spacious for a small car. I plan on keeping it as a starter car for my 13 year old.

the best car ive ever owned. replaced brake pads once, timing belt once (as a precautionary measure) and tires twice. have had no mechanical problems with the vehicle at all. did not have rustproofing and wax it once a year and still have no rust. would not hesitate to buy another.

I have owned 2 jettas an 1985 and 1996. I had terrible experiences 2 years after i bout my used 96 jetta which scared me away from the newer volkswagens. i keep obsessing over jettas because they are so good looking , comfortable and fun to drive yet they are totally unreliable and expensive to maintain. Civic have always been my second choice and if i hadnt had a jetta im sure i would have been a bigger honda enthusiast. ( its hard to get over the interior differences even though the new civics are much nicer than they used to be they just dont compare to jettas.)

  • Best Car You Can Buy Today - 2006 Honda Civic

What a great car. Its a safe, practical 4-door mid-sized sedan with incredible fuel economy. The only time you know its a hybrid is when the engine shuts down at red-lights and at the pump. Its roomy, fun to drive, and of the most cutting-edge technology available for $20k (counting tax credit). Itll teach you to drive all over again. I no longer see how fast I can get somewhere, I see how efficiently I can do it. Sounds goofy, but it is a fun game to play. Dont listen to Consumer Reports when they say the best they could get was 38 mpg. The engine gets better with break- in. My tanks are so far 37.6 (incl. del from Japan), 41.8, 42.1, 44.4 & Im confident itll get better. Go try it!
