Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • All around, excellent car - 2006 Honda Civic

Bought new in December, and have over 22 000 kms on it now and have no real big issues with it. This is a super easy 6 speed to drive and turns and stops on a dime. Its also a very safe car with front and side airbags, 6 all together I think. Its pretty awesome, a blast to drive and sure gets a lot of looks. I have the Habanero red pearl Si.

  • UNREAL - 1994 Honda Civic

I have owned this LX sedan for 10 years now. During that time I have had the manual transmission replced (used) for about $500.00 and one fan switch and blower-$230. In ten years-those are the only repairs! This car is absolutely unbelievable & I love it-Not like I loved my German cars (really fun to drive), But because it has never let me down and drives today almost exactly the way it did the first day I purchased it. Honda makes an excellent car!

After owning a 8 cyclinder 2000 grand cherokee in nyc and the gas price are 2.20 a galon. 60 dollars a week in fuel. i had a buy a cheap car that was good on gas. i checked out the web site and read about the civic hatch and heard great things about the car. i had to buy one. i bought a 93 hatch with 118k on it. I must say its a great lil car. i had to install a stero system soon as i got it. so far it runs great and its realible. i love honda.

  • A good car with some problems. - 2000 Honda Civic
    By -

Good: Interior build quality and control layout is hard to beat in a car of this price. Controls are all well placed and materials are high quality. The car is very comfortable to drive. Bad: Engine is noticeably loud in the upper RPM ranges. Automatic transmission is not very smooth between shifts. Engine downshifts as soon as I take my foot off the accelerator, then abruptly shifts back up into previous gear. Causes car to lose speed even when traveling downhill! Strange black trim pieces gave me pause. Why didnt Honda make the EX exterior trim, which was integrated and color matched, a standard on all trim levels.

  • Almost Perfect! - 2000 Honda Civic

I bought my 2000 Civic Si brand new. I have never had a single problem with it mechanically. Just followed the recommneded maintenance - thats it! I have driven it through fairly heavy rain/snow with no problems - that is, AFTER replacing the stock Michelin XGT V4s, which were downright DANGEROUS on any wet road conditions. I am now running Yokohama Avid T4s, which are not as high-performance but they increased the ride comfort considerably - at the cost of more body lean in the turns due to a softer sidewall. A fair trade-off, because their wet-weather capability is outstanding.

  • A reliable sporty car - 2005 Honda Civic
    By -

This car is very, very fun to drive (for those who like sporty cars and sticks). It gets excellent gas mileage while still being pretty quick. The interior is very nice, with some cool Si-only touches. I got a crazy good deal on this car used, but Im not sure if Id like to pay full price for it new. Its not quite as quick as some of its competitors (only 160hp). But, it outhandles most of them, and, importantly, it has just about bullet- proof reliability. Most other "Pocket Rockets" are pieces of junk with powerful motors (like the Neon SRT-4) but the Civic Si will still be perfect 100,000 miles from now.

  • Good for the Cost, Reliability - 2005 Honda Civic

I have now owned this car for close to three months and the thing that gets me is the gas mileage. Its got good functionality, nice looks--but the gas mileage is the part that sells it.

  • The New 2006 Civic Coupe EX Rocks! - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

I traded in a gas guzzling Nissan Xterra for the more fuel efficient Civic. The car handles superbly, has incredible acceleration for a 4 cyl. engine, and looks exceptionally sporty, to boot. The interior is comfortable and roomy and has the feel of a much pricier car. While Ive yet to get that 40 MPG freeway (I drive 80 MPH on average), I am getting approx. 34 miles/gallon. Beats the 14 I was getting out of the Xterra. The only problem Ive had with the car was a blown fuse that controlled the dome, map, and trunk lights, but that was easily repaired. I highly recommend this car!

  • Very nice and smart little car - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

Purchased EX sedan w/AT 3 weeks ago, been driving approximately 550 miles. Overall, it is a very nice little car - not sure if anything else in this class even comes close (maybe Mazda3 does, but no one else - period.) Love the dashboard and cool interior design, so far my mileage seems to be around 24-25 mpg, but it is mostly driven in the city - cant wait to take it for a long highway run! Exterior design is great, but could use about 1 inch of extra ground clearance. Good stability on dry roads, but would love to see stability control for snow driving.

  • weve been through a lot together - 1995 Honda Civic
    By -

I bought this car way back in 97 with 75000 miles already on it. I drove it from California to Massachusetts and all the way down the East coast a couple of times then to Texas. In my time in the North East it handled great in the snow, The Body rusted a little, I had to change the brakes and cv joints once. It passed inspection everytime and I recently sold it for 2500 with 140000 miles on it! Great car, great resale value. Good bye old friend.
