Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • I hate this car - 2016 Honda Civic

My biggest complaint about this car is the transmission. If you ever need to slow down quickly then speed up, forget about it. Its like the transmission is stuck in high gear for a second before it decides youre done stopping. I had a close call once because of this. A minor complaint about the transmission is the knuckle dragging fake shift points, its controlled by the computer there should be an option to turn it off. Another issue is the anemic horn, that sound like a dying giraffe, which I blame for not being able to prevent an accident. The entertainment system is the opposite of ergonomic. The angle of the screen is terrible for a touch screen and several buttons are too small for arms reach. The mute swipe is hit or miss and slow so some times Ill try to mute twice and then itll mute and unmute. The screen changes and animates for about a minute when I start driving which I find annoyingly distracting. The parking brake is not very usable especially if you are in an emergency and your fine motor skills go out the window. Also why do you have to push the break to release the parking break? The seats are so curved, they force you to slouch. Other then these issues the car is OK. It drives on the freeway nicely, mileage is good and it has plenty of trunk space.

  • Way to go Honda! - 2006 Honda Civic

This vehicle is not what I was out to purchase at the time, but it caught my eye. I swore I would never own an import, I was a domestic man, but I am extremely happy with the styling and performance of the new Civic. Its great for everyday use gas mileage wise, and just plain fun to drive.

  • Amazing - 2009 Honda Civic

I have owned 2 civics (2001 LX and 2005 SI hatchback) prior to this one. There is a reason why I purchased another new SI. Amazing comfort, style, and power all in this sporty package. If you are even debating getting an SI like myself, do yourself a favor and buy it. On my first tank of gas I got 33 MPG of 50/50 highway/city driving(ratings are 21/29 on the sticker). If you are looking for a car that turns heads then this is the one for you. So far my wife and I have put 1500 miles on it and have loved every minute of driving it. I strongly suggest you get a test drive at your local dealer so you can see for yourself why Hondas slogan is "Above all else."

  • Did William Hung put the H in Honda? - 1998 Honda Civic
    By -

I have been very disappointed with this car. The only thing that compares to it is William Hungs rendition of "She Bangs"...its that bad. The transmission has gone out and still shifts violently, manifold has cracked, windows squeak, sunroof shade rattles, when windshield wipers are on they make an ANNOYING clicking sound inside the dash, and the paint is peeling. Also, the piece in the middle of the trunk that holds the license plate is probably going to fall off. Some other things that are a bother...everyone and their uncle owns this car and it has the personality of a lampshade. This car also offers FAR less than its European competition.

  • Very Nice Car all around - 2002 Honda Civic

In over a month of owning this car, i cant tell you enough. Fast, powerfull, descent gas milleage, very well done interior details, etc.. Feels and handles like a real car, not a toy.

  • great car for the money! - 2001 Honda Civic
    By -

I have the 2-door EX coupe, auto. w/side a-bags, metallic silver. Ive had no problems mechanically at all with the car. Ive noticied a couple of my fellow reviewers mention dashboard noise &/or rattling inside the cabin. I have never heard any noise up to this point; in fact, the cabin is very quiet. I like the convenience features that came standard like the sunroof, A/C, cruise control (HUGE help since I drive long distances frequently), power windows etc and ABS. Fuel efficiency is excellent, especially on the highway.

  • Bought Civic Ex SE - 2005 Honda Civic

Chose this vehicle for its economy over my Chevy Monte Carlo. Need a family friendly vehicle that got better gas milage as I travel sometimes 40 miles one way to work. Chose this vehicle over the Corolla because it is more comfortable.
