Overview & Reviews
In typical Honda fashion, the Civic receives a number of minor changes this year in order to keep it fresh. For the coupe and sedan, there's new exterior styling, including restyling for the front and rear bumpers, hood, headlights and grille. Inside, the audio speakers have been upgraded, extra sound deadening material has been added and floor mats are now standard in the LX and EX. The LX trim has slightly bigger wheels this year (15 inches) and standard keyless entry. A new value package contains air conditioning, a CD player and a new center console. For the Si hatchback, there are new headlight and taillight designs, larger 16-inch wheels and flashier interior trim. Like the regular sedan, the Civic Hybrid has updated styling, standard floor mats and improved speakers. It also has a new interior console with an armrest, adjustable rear headrests and a manual driver-seat height adjuster. Finally, all 2004 Honda Civic sedans and coupes have a new seatbelt reminder system.
- Fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly engines, roomy interior, reputation for durability and quality, impressive crash test scores.
- Top-of-the-line models are pricey, antilock brakes not available on DX or LX.

Cant Lose With A Honda Civic - 2004 Honda Civic
By Abraham White - January 8 - 8:36 pmThe wife and I had our hearts set on a Toyota Corolla. We test drove one, sat down to negotiate the price, the salesman was playing their games so out of spite I told him we were going to go to Honda. We did, and test drove the Civic, out of spite, but fell in love with it. Better handling than Corolla, better stereo system, much more comfortable ride, less road noise, and better overall fit and finish. And best of all to the wife, it was better priced than a comparably equipped Corolla. After all it was Consumer Reports Car of the year in 2003 or 2004 I cant quite recall but you can look it up. Cheers.

2004 Civic LX Sedan AT - 2004 Honda Civic
By buffmaster - December 30 - 10:00 amThis car is pretty fun to drive. The acceleration is decent, and the ride quality is smooth. Im not getting as good of a gas milage as I wanted, but its good enough(around 26 mpg). The exterior is candy for my eye, I love it. The interior looks clean and there is a lot of space in the front of the car. The rear is pretty tight but Ive had 5 people in the car a few times and no one complained so I guess its cozy back there. The build quality seems mediocre. The hood bends in and out a little bit if you press it.

Best Well-Mannered Car for the Buck - 2004 Honda Civic
By amangle - December 24 - 2:00 amIf you are reading this review you already realize the quality and value of this vehicle. I dont want to beat a dead horse, but your not going to find a better car for the price. You cant go wrong with great relability, safety, gas mileage, resale value, etc. Drive it, I did, and you see what I have now. The transmission, ride, and engine are smooth as silk. Great Car. No hassle buying, wonderful experience. I recommend Rob M. from Herritage in Westminster, MD. Great laid back guy. Third Honda (Oddessey and Civic Si Hatchback) from the dealership.

Civic - 2004 Honda Civic
By Zidarr - December 19 - 2:00 amThis car is fun to drive and in spite of it being a 4 cylinder car with low HP it feels like a higher powered car. Its swift and very responsive.

2004 Civic Hybrid a winner!!! - 2004 Honda Civic
By SierraMadre Hybrid - November 18 - 10:00 amThe civic hybrid looks and runs like a normal civic. Pros and Cons are that other drivers dont know youre driving a hybrid. The performance and the dollars savings on fuel is worth a serious look at this environmentally friendly real vehicle.

Civic Hybrid review - 2004 Honda Civic
By RNovick - November 18 - 10:00 amThis is a fun car to drive. It sacrifices little in performance for a dramatic 500 miles before refueling. It can cruise at 80+ mph with power to accelerate. Engine is very quiet.

GREAT CAR EXCEPT PAINT - 2004 Honda Civic
By RS LOVE - October 26 - 10:00 amPICKED THIS CAR UP 3 WKS AGO AND FIRST TIME IT WAS WASHED WE NOTICED SLOPPY PAINT AROUND INTERIOR DOOR PANELS VISIBLE FROM INSIDE WHEN DOOR CLOSED. WITHIN TWO WEEKS A LIGHT MUSTARD COLOR BEGAN TO SHOW THRU THE WHITE PAINT ON FRONT LOWER "AIR DAM" PANEL. RETURNED TO DEALER WITH REQUEST FOR NEW CAR BUT THEY ONLY OFFERED TO REPAIR PAINT. NOT HAVING TOTAL FACTORY PAINT IS A BUMMER, ESPECIALLY ON A NEW HONDA. SERVICE MANAGER STATED PAINT PROBLEM - "ITS BECAUSE THEIR MAKING THEM SO FAST" (DEMAND AND ALL THAT). WOULD ADVISE NEW OWNERS TO INSPECT CAR CAREFULLY BEFORE TAKING FINAL DELIVERY. ALL OTHER ASPECTS OF CAR FINE.

Good car, but no longer the best - 2004 Honda Civic
By thel - October 9 - 1:46 amI got this car mainly b/c I like the local Honda dealer so much. I retrospect, I wish Id gone with the higher fun factor that you get with the Mazda Protege5 or the new 3. I would also like the wagon utility that the Honda doesnt have. The Civic has good ergonomics and a quiet cabin. It is easy to work on and gets great gas mileage. The 04 facelift is also far more appealing than the earlier Civics. On the down side the car is painfully slow due in part to the gearing which seems more interested in fuel economy than performance. The seats are also a bit uncomfortable on the long haul. Overall, the Civic is a good car but the Mazdas are a lot more fun.

Honda civic more expensive, but saves - 2004 Honda Civic
By CIVIC GURU - September 30 - 2:00 amYou get what you pay for rings true with the Civic! Sure you will pay $2K more for this car over comparable sedans. But you get a car that can easily go 200K miles without any major repairs just regular maitenence. You have a car that buyers will fight for when you are ready to sell it. High resale, no costly and timely repair bills. Much better quality. Plus those autos offering those huge 100K mile warranties. Guess what, the seldom honor them anyhow! Been there, done that too! I have owned Honda Civcs for 18 years, never had any major problems with any of them. My last one was 7 years old had 227,000 miles on it, and it sold for $2900.
