Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

Its Honda reliability and there is no disputing that. But in reality, the car is overrated. The car rides very rough and road noise is horrible. No vanity lights is an oversight on Hondas part. The car handles good but is lacking in some basic features like: vanity lights, power seats, in- dash 6 disc changer, and homelink. It has good power unless youre merging into traffic and need to get out there (you may be in trouble). When you compare the Civic, Corolla, & Mazda3, dollar for dollar and feature for feature I think Honda ends up in last place. I think they are relying too much on a legacy and have become too complacent. Would not have another one thats for sure.

This is bar-none, one of the best cars Ive ever owned. Nothing major has gone wrong with it that I didnt do, and yes, this car has been through a lot, but it keeps going and going. I must also say, for as old as the body design is, it still looks competitive on the street. It gets great gas mileage, considering todays gas prices. Rust? What rust? Even the smallest amount of maintainence will prevent any of that from happening on this car, and we are talking about an all minnesota car here, where rust is commonplace. I would recommend anyone to buy a civic, its one of the most reliable cars out there.

  • Mixed Feelings - 2002 Honda Civic

Faulty cab light was replaced by the dealer. Vinyl molding by the drivers side gets loose and have to be pushed in place. Defrot only with the AC on is very irritating. Sometimes fails to start for no apparent reason. Brakes jerk when applied hard. Apart from that, fun car to drive. Paid a high price. I have owned both domestic and imports, Ford to VW to Toyota. I believe this is the best.

  • Honda Continues to Build Great Cars - 2003 Honda Civic

I have just purchased a 2003 Honda Civic LX Coupe. After owning a 2000 Civic VP -- This was a slight upgrade. All - in - all this car feels rock-solid, Very Affordable, considering what you get. Sound system very clear, nice punchy mid-low end. 5-speed is very smooth. Ride is very comfy, bu could use a touch more power, though Im pleased with the power it has, it is certainly adequate. I love it, and will continue to buy Hondas in the future.

This car has been very reliable. Ive owned my car for 5 years and have never had any mechanical problems. And its very thrifty on gas. I get 25 miles to the gallon. I highly recommend this car to anyone who is looking for reliable transportation, with style, its a cute car. You really get your moneys worth with this one.

  • 49+ MPG almost daily - 2008 Honda Civic

I drive 70 miles round trip each day to and from work. If I am not rushed, I can get over 49 MPG. I can hardly believe what an investment I have made.

  • you really cant go wrong - 2008 Honda Civic
    By -

I knew with a Honda you couldnt go wrong and when I saw this generation Civics body style, I knew I would eventually own one. Im glad I waited until 2008 for the leather model as it looks A-mazing in silver w/ black interior. Fun to drive, great looks, Honda reliability...the end.

  • Oh, for 15 days... - 2015 Honda Civic
    By -

Big plus, despite EPA rating, I averaged 39 mpg for the 15 days I had the car (which I apparently cannot say below in Car Details. Has a lot more technology than I needed or was accustomed to and obviously in 15 days, I was still getting use to the car. Totally awesome to never have to remove keys from pocket, bag, etc. That was great-no inadvertently dropping keys in hard to reach places (I had a 2006 Honda prior to getting this 2015). I cant honestly comment much more. At the 15 day ownership mark, at 12:30 PM I was nailed in an awkward rear/side position by a drunk driver. While the entire left side must be replaced :( and I dont know why the left-side air-bag did not deploy. Waiting to know if there is further damage, not visible without a lift. Otherwise, given that I was slowing to turn (guessing down to about 30 mph) and the other car was by witnesses accounts speeding at minimally 70 mph, I sustained minor injuries most likely due to Hondas design of the passenger cabin.

it just keeps on going!handling unmatched to ANY car i have driven. this car still has a perfect alignment, take your hands off the wheel, and theres no pulling ANYWHERE,iv never had the alignment done either, very fun to drive. main repairs are faulty relay switch, brake job, muffler.starts every time!180,000 miles and still runs pretty smooth, auto tranny can be rough tho,and it slips under hard acceleration
