This Year's Model Updates:

In typical Honda fashion, the Civic receives a number of minor changes this year in order to keep it fresh. For the coupe and sedan, there's new exterior styling, including restyling for the front and rear bumpers, hood, headlights and grille. Inside, the audio speakers have been upgraded, extra sound deadening material has been added and floor mats are now standard in the LX and EX. The LX trim has slightly bigger wheels this year (15 inches) and standard keyless entry. A new value package contains air conditioning, a CD player and a new center console. For the Si hatchback, there are new headlight and taillight designs, larger 16-inch wheels and flashier interior trim. Like the regular sedan, the Civic Hybrid has updated styling, standard floor mats and improved speakers. It also has a new interior console with an armrest, adjustable rear headrests and a manual driver-seat height adjuster. Finally, all 2004 Honda Civic sedans and coupes have a new seatbelt reminder system.

Pros:
  • Fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly engines, roomy interior, reputation for durability and quality, impressive crash test scores.
Cons:
  • Top-of-the-line models are pricey, antilock brakes not available on DX or LX.

  • Best Compact car for a reason - 2004 Honda Civic

I purchased my car from Tempe Honda, In Arizona and and was extremely pleased, it was no pressure, and my salesman Brian could not have been more helpful. I looked at the other cars on the market and the Civic was by far the best. It had the best safety, best fuel economy, and best looks, although that last one is a bit subjective. I purchased one of the first of the redesigned 04 civics. I have had no problems, and because this is not my first honda, I do not expect any. Overall, like the title says, it is the best compact car for a reason.

So, a change in outlook has taken me from a 15 mpg Durango to the 51 mpg Civic. I just love this little car so far. My new job is about 60 miles away, and Ill be commuting for a couple of months. This will be a great commuter. If I drive it on the freeway at 75 mph, I seem to get about 45 mpg. At a more leisurely pace of 65 and under, itll pull down an honest (at least according to the digital readout) 52+ mpg.

I love this car. I bought it before the recent spike in gas prices and Im glad i did. My other vehicle was 1 2002 Dodge Dakota and with 15mpg it was impractical to use it as my every day car. This vehicle gets in the mid 40s in the winter and improves to over 50 now that the weather has warmed.

I just bought the car and I cant begin to explain how wonderful it is to own the car. I traded my gas guzzling suv in and I have saved a ton of money in gas just the first month. In fact, I have driven 400 miles and have yet to fill it up! That should speak for itself. The car is fun to drive and handles really nicely. The seats are a little firm but not uncomfortable.

Absolutely the most economical and fun car to drive. The IMA system smokes some of the fancier cars like the BMW, Jetta, Ford ponies right at the light. I made a trip from NJ to South Carolina (800 miles one way) on 17 gallons of gas. It cost more for the tolls than it did for the fuel! The road pep is surprising. Great sound system as well. Plenty of room for the passengers and the trunk is very roomy. The engine is extremely quiet. Interior cooling and heating are super. BUY this car!
